My low mileage (31k) 2005 Mustang GT Premium overheated today on what has been the hottest day of the year so far. A/C compressor started seizing after refueling in Winnsboro, SC while on my way to Aiken County, SC.
Pulled into large Chevrolet-Buick dealership parking area (Leesville, SC) and requested a transport through AAA. Salesman came out, offering me a bottle of water and unwanted advice: 'you can trade your junk in on a new Camaro'.
No thanks. I like Camaros and if I were to buy one, it wouldn't be from 'Mr. Good Samaritan(?)'.

Is that the Chevy dealer in the background of pic 3?

That is an interesting piece of property and has gotten my attention. House - Garage/Barn on 2 acres for sale. Fortunately, the adjacent RR track isn't terribly busy. I'm always looking for property closer to my daughter. Checking on it today.
Herlong Chevrolet-Buick. Brand new location for an established dealership that moved to Leesville from Johnson, SC. Their Yelp! reviews are underwhelming.

He didn't offer to fix the Mustang because his Service Departmant was booked solid for weeks!
BTW: You should have told him that you couldn't buy a Camaro for a few months....you would need the time to grow a mullet!....:D

The shop Mustang did go to asked 'Are you in a hurry'? 'No'. "Good, because it will be at least a week'. Picked up an Altima today from Enterprise and will drive it home on sunday. Hopefully Mustang will be repaired by Father's Day, if not before. I did specify OEM replacement parts.

Insulting a potential customer. Real smart. This is a major pet peeve of mine.
I can't understand why sales people do this.
Getting back to your Mustang, which looks nice BTW, did it just need a new thermostat? Or did one of the radiator hoses collapse? Low coolant, ... etc?
Inquiring minds want to know?

Should have told him you would only trade it in for an 05 Camaro.

Don't know yet. The most obvious symptom was a/c compressor drag that would stall or nearly stall the motor. After Mustang cooled down while waiting for the transporter, I started the motor (without the a/c) and it sounded, ran fine with no hint of overheating on the gauge. A substantial amount of coolant did come out of the expansion tank shortly after stopping - can be seen in the images.

Only the fully trained ales prevention team does this.

Update: Shop expedited my job. They determined the problem to be the cooling fan failed. Installed new OEM cooling fan assembly and topped off the coolant. Driven roughly 20 miles in mid '90s temps - Mustang is back to normal. Grille Horse illuminates at night - Genuine Ford Accessory.

I'm glad it wasn't anything major. Now let's move on to the grill. I've never seen one like that. It has the 6 cylinder look but the GT fog lights.

The Pony Grille Insert was popular back in the day - it just snaps into place. Unable to find an image at the moment. Previous owner bought and installed it. Illuminated pony is still available the last time I checked but is only 'plug and play' on the current generation. A bit of modification needed to make it work with the early S-197s.
