Hi folks.
Maury’s son-in-law here.
It’s with great sorrow I must report that Maury passed away this morning, after complications from pneumonia.

He really loved you guys, and the wonderful Marauder community.

I’ll pass along any comments here to his family. If you feel so motivated, please think of donating to the American Heart Assoc. in his memory.

Richard & Cynthia McMahon

This saddens my heart to read of Maury's passing. I think other than Ginny, and the grand babies...there was not much on earth that Maury loved more than his MARAUDER, and being around others who loved their MARAUDERs. May he rest in peace in God's hand, and I hope ALL he sees is green lights!

Sorry for your families loss. Always an interesting guy to talk to. The last time that I saw him was in Louisville a number of years ago, and I'm saddened everytime that remember him saying that it would probably be his last trip. R.I.P. Maury!

This is such a terrible thing. I know due to nature we should have been prepared to hear this but meeting and interacting with Maury at Louisville a few times I came to really like him so the impact is devastating...

Please let the family know how great his being a part of this community was and that he was truly loved and will be missed...

a loss for our Marauder family. we had some great times with Maury like the Ford nights at Chuck's in Grapevine. he was a real WWII hero in the earlier days of military aviation. as the poem goes "Oh I have slipped the surly bonds of earth and danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings...". God's speed Maury.

A beloved member and supporter of the Marauder, this site and all it's members. Maury was an exciting person and insisted the Marauder was powered by a Cobra engine. He was a pilot and flew many different types of commercial aircraft.

I will miss him. He was the first person I met when I joined the North Texas Marauders and this site in mid 2004. His energy and enthusiasm for all things Marauder was infectious.

RIP Maury, I'll see you when we cruise again.

Your friend,

Pat

What Ken said. I met him at the same time. He was quite a character. We left Louisville on Sunday morning heading home. We ran together till we got to Nashville where we split up. That old man wasn't scared to run on down the road. Deb and I are sorry for your loss.

God Bless Maury! Such a kind and generous gentleman. He didn’t think twice about picking Marty and me up at DFW for the Marauder Roundup in Ennis in 2004! I loved the fact that the North TX Marauderers trained the local Mercury dealer on the Marauder! Hugs and prayers to Ginny and family.

Eric and I send our love to Maury's family and especially his beloved Ginny. We regret never having the pleasure of meeting him in person but felt a kindred spirit around his love of family, his Marauder and the club members he interacted with on line and in person over the years. He will be missed by all here. RIP Maury.

I haven’t been here in years but something told me to stop by today. It would be just like Maury to tap me on the shoulder and let me know that I needed to pay attention. So many memories with this man. Watching him argue with the Texas Motor Speedway staff about how the speed limit for the charity laps shouldn’t apply to us because we were all well-seasoned drivers who know our cars. Convincing Chuck’s Car Show that we needed our own Marauder class. Trying to keep up with him on his infamous I20 banzai runs. Maury had a full life because that’s exactly how he wanted it. There’s dignity and soul in that. RIP Sir- Godspeed.

So very sorry to hear this news about Maury "Pop Pop" Marauder. R.I.P. Buddy !! Condolences to your family and friends. I met the "cruzer" for the first time at Marauderville III (MV3) in Detroit, Michigan in August 2005. Sat in the hotel lobby and listened to his military service and aircraft/airline exploits over his lifetime while viewing his binder of photos. It was mesmerizing ... the things he had done and seen during his lifetime was incredible. He was a true asset to the Marauder Community. He will be missed !!

I have added "cruzer"/Maury to the "In Memoriam" Forum here and included a link to his Obituary >>>>> https://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?84824-quot-In-Memoriam-quot-forum&highlight=memoriam

Maury,

I never had the pleasure in meeting you, but from reading your posts and watching the interview that you gave with Stephen Fagin (Living History with Captain Maury Seitz July 15, 2009), You are held in my highest regard as a decent man and human being.

If anyone would like to honor this man by watching the above-mentioned interview, it can be found on YouTube at the following link; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZvgHdSMlQM If you prefer not to watch the video here is a very brief synopsis on a small portion of Maury’s life, from the Living History channel.

“The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza presented an interview between retired U.S. Air Force Captain Maury Seitz and Associate Curator Stephen Fagin. A Former U.S. Air Force captain who later served as a longtime captain for American Airlines, Seitz was co-pilot on numerous chartered flights that backed up Air Force One during the Kennedy presidency. Seitz met the Kennedy family and spent time with Caroline and John Jr. During the Cuban missile crisis, his plane carried a JFK decoy during a top-secret flight.”

Maury, God's Speed, you will forever more be flying high.
