By the way, the backlit grille pony is available over the counter with a Ford part number. Sourced from Dakota Digital. Plug and Play for 2015-2017 S550s, reportedly won't work with 2018 and up Mustang for unknown reasons. Direct plug in for the S197s but the polarity is wrong. Have one on my 2005 - plenty of compliments.

Here is a vendor I ran across for the first time tonight.

https://x-lume.com/

From the Ford website with part number. May be able to shop around and get it slightly cheaper.

Here is something the factory unlit pony emblem attaches to, backlighting the factory pony.

Tasca has the Ford part at a substantial discount.

Also available on eBay.

As you can see, the prices for the same item are all over the place.

The Pony plug matched the power plug on my 2005 but I had to reverse the pins on the Pony plug to make it work (reverse polarity). Wouldn't fit the pony recess on the 2005 grille and a hole saw is required as there is a circular power unit on the back of the Pony. Replacement grilles were available (maybe still are?) for the 2005-2009 that had a flat Pony mounting area without the recess, perfect for the illuminated Pony being discussed. A paper template is included. Replacement grille was about $50 on eBay as I recall.
