Howdy,
So I've been reading into this a bit and there's a lot of talk about using blackout tape, but I also saw a mention that FBI spec crown vics were said to use a body color\black trim and had to be optioned with the "street appearance" package in order to get the chrome trim. Does anyone have any idea how to find out what that part number is for the body color factory stuff? I'm pretty anal and blackout tape will bother me just on principle alone.
:violin:(probably what you are reading)

It never happened, it was never an option, I’ve been ordering fleet cars for years and never saw that listed, since 1988, sooooooo, good luck

Checking through pictures it would appear you're correct. I found some of the standard CVPIs and they had the chrome trim too. So wherever I read that, they were mistaken. So it looks like conventional methods to black it out are the only options! Thanks for the info. Since you are so storied in fleet orders, any really cool things that not many people know about?
I already found out about the MMX driveshaft. Which I would love to score if I could find it cheaply given that I'm switching to 4.30s.

I probably have one of those driveshafts, I’ll look tomorrow.
There are no “secret “ stuff on these, just heavy duty parts, most of which the marauder uses.

NOTE: Wrote and used the above instructions for doing the trim black-up back in 2004. Still as good as the day it was installed.

If that MMX driveshaft falls through, I am extremely interested in obtaining it.

Have some cheap blackout tape on mine, still holding up. Hardest part is getting the corner of the rear window. Mine has a hairline gap on one side, the other side several pieces and doesn't look great. I would rather scuff it, tape off everything else and spray it if I had to do it again. Still looks better than the chrome so 0FG.
