had a bad parasitic drain that my deltran battery tender could not keep up with. Found my air ride module was causing the problem. they are hot all the time. removed plastic cover from module found burnt circuit board. replaced with a new module and now no drain but air ride light on. found that new module must be configured to my vehicle. have a new generation star but unsure how to do it. from what i can find old module has the config and must be removed and installed in new module. Anybody config a module using a ngs? wondering if it has to be done hot as NGS do not have a battery in them?

read the original with forscan and write it to the new module

Forscan is free software to read / modify / write Ford modules. Google it. You'll also need the correct OBDII interface.

Download this + purchase a license

https://forscan.org/home.html

Buy this

https://www.amazon.com/ScanTool-OBDLink-Bluetooth-Professional-Diagnostics/dp/B006NZTZLQ?ref_=ast_sto_dp

sync bluetooth dongle with laptop (I believe you can program with forscan mobile but I've never tried)

Connect forscan to car with bluetooth dongle

Codes B2477 config failure and U1026. Ok fix was use forscan to save config from old module. Then install new RASM module and load config to new RASM module. Trouble was light was still on. Had to go into VAPS which is in RASM module and configure it to a marauder which set RPM values. That cleared light. hope somebody uses this and thanks for the tip on forscan.

Were the ras vaps modules different part numbers?

no vaps it is in rasm module.

the config for vaps is manual. you go into vaps and there is a drop down. it will show no rpm values set. you have two choices in drop down. base and marauder. after you pick marauder and you are using forscan it will prompt you to cycle off and on for changes to take effect.

no vaps it is in rasm module.
The one behind the glove box is the power steering and air ride module, its the ras vaps module. it controls both the air ride and steering solenoid.
So back to the question, did you receive the same part number item as the one original to the car?
I ask this is because i have swapped in and out ( identical part numbered items) of the ras vaps and nothing needed to be altered.

Just asking why you needed forscan to fix it...
Thank you for the write up, i am sure we will eventually run into this in the near future.

Yes mine are used. There is a different part number for each year, if you match the part number then the item just swaps in.
I pull them from the yards and test on my 03s and 04s then sell them

ok you must be getting crown vics and marquis rasm modules. never see marauders at the u pull its by me. if u are getting them out of cv and marquis the rpm values will be off but might not set light. looks like my old module can be repaired. not sure what it is that burnt. but it is only one electrical component on the board.

The cv and MGM have the same part number, idk about having different rpm... not sure how that plays into air ride... I get marauder ones too.....

well the rpm values are for the vaps portion of the module. variable assist power steering. obvious a cv/gm have different rpm values than a marauder. it is easy to change them in the used module with forscan.
