A discussion I started last night on the Apple website - pretty typical - related to sound files. Yes, Apple Support has been loaded with trolls for decades.

Hum, not sure what will work to edit stuff on an older mac. My only tips are the following.
To download a youtube video / just the sound from it I use:
https://en.savefrom.net/1-youtube-video-downloader-1/
Don't have to download or install anything, works from a browser.
For free sounds you could try https://freesound.org/. It is commonly used for indie game development.
