I just sold a whole 150$ item on eBay, and get an email from PayPal asking for TIN...Tax Id Number. New for 21??

Is there a $$ limit for yearly selling on eBay??

Who asked for it? Ebay or purchaser?

E.A.D. Is the proper response, why pay income tax on something you already bought and sold probably for less than you paid, unless your planning on writing it off as a loss.

I get scam emails monthly from "paypal" saying they put a hold on my account due to suspicious activity and want me to sign in on their link. Just reply with something simple and see if it bounces back thru mailer-demon.

Parpal should not be asking for sensitive info like SS or TIN.

Do not answer that!

Check the email address it came from, it could be a spam email.

I sold on eBay for a living last 2-3 years. If you sell more than 250 items per year, and sell over $20,000.00 in that year PayPal will send you a 1099.
If you sold 10 items for a million dollars, you will not get a 1099

key would just sell under $19,500 in any sales including returns off eBay, and ANY OTHER money coming thru your PayPal account.

just set your eBay account with $$ going directly into your checking account, then PayPal can eat *****

Everything is starting to get taxed when using a common forum. Wait for on here too...... Private sales are still considered occasional sales, so no sales tax. New rules in effect in 2021. E-Bay has been charging sales tax on items for a while now.

if you received a message on eBay about it, click that hyperlink to set up your bank. I’m on my phone at work and not much help at the moment

that eBay tax is state by state basis. I live in Kansas and Missouri and neither are taxed.
Thank your people for voting for it!!
