I'm replacing my front upper and lower control arms. I started on the drivers side and I have everything off except I cannot get the bolt on the lower control arm off. It hits the tie rod / boot. I loosened the steering rack but the drivers side will not come off or give me enough clearance because the steering shaft seems to be holding it back. I watched a video online where the studs that hold the rack in place are removed. The same video showed removing them steering shaft. Does the steering shaft need to be removed to remove the bolt?

From what I remember when doing the camber bolts yes or at least mostly slid forward.

I removed the studs that hold the steering rack and that gave me enough room to get the lower bolts out.

The new Moog upper control arms must be a little beefier because the plastic clips that hold the ABS cable won't reconnect. I have the wires tied up with zip ties, but I'd like to find a more permanent solution. Anyone have any ideas? I tried heating one of them to see if I could stretch it, but it broke.

This is a really good video if you are thinking about replacing your own control arms.

If you're considering replacing your inner tie rods, you can remove those first and then by moving the rack back and forth you can pull the LCA bolt without having to drop the rack. At least that's what I did.

I've already had it aligned. Maybe next year. Thanks.
