So I gotta do timing guides and tensioners this coming weekend.I ordered the cloyes tensioners as advised on an old thread about the best parts for that job. What I didnt know is theres something called private label packaging from RockAuto.I just added the cloyes tensioner to the cart and payed right away. Well what I got werent cloyes tensioners but some other brand(I dont have them in front of me)I hadnt heard of.Has anybody else ran into this issue? RockAuto claims the quality meets or exceeds the quality of the cloyes tensioner.Im a little nervous about it.And yes I did order the correct part numbers.Should I just use them or return for actual cloyes tensioners?

Just return them when they break for a full refund.

If you ordered Cloyes, return them. They can't replace the item with another brand w/o your authorization. That's called bait and switch which is illegal.

When you bought them from Rock Auto you were probably given the option of private label(cheaper) or the Cloyes part in a drop down box, its probably still a Cloyes part. I would call Cloyes and see if they could verify.

I bought the recommended cobra steel tensioners, and the $5.00 steel tensioners… the stamping letter is bigger on one, that’s about it
