PLEASE HELP!
Finally had my brother in town and pushed the Black (18,400 miles) out of its garage. It has been driven 4.1 miles, three years ago from old garage to new garage but other than that, it was been in a five year slumber. Gentle wash, dry, wax, and towed to mechanic to install new fuel pump, with Tank out rinse, old gas dumped, fuel filter replaced, fresh tank of Chevron Supreme and CAI replaced back to stock.
Car throwing code P1256 code, I cleared it and drove 50 miles. No lights, but code still there and it needs to clear SO I CAN PASS SMOG AND EGISTER CAR -- AND DRIVE IT!.
What does this code mean? I googled it and it is very... Vague "P1256 Pedal Correlation PDS1 and HPDS". How long do I need to drive to clear the code. HOW DO I FIX? New O2 sensors? Smokey burnouts?
Please advise.

pedal correlation sounds like a TPS issue to me, but I'm taking a shot in the dark. Can't say this is a code I've dealt with personally.

Bump. Need advice here! I suspect 02 sensors... code clears but reappears! How long do I need to drive for codes to clear themselves?

It's not o2 sensors. Other mfg, relate that code to coolant temperature sensor short, have no idea what pedal correlation refers too

Might want to check in with a Ford mechanic to see if you can get some info. I forget who the Ford guy is here.

Fault code P1256 is common for coolant sensor (not fan sensor). Also can be the sensor wiring. Examine wires for damage and if none replace sensor then erase code and recheck.

Bump
Will check coolant sensor.
Any other thoughts?

Will check coolant sensor. Everything runs great. No temp, or smoke or roughness. I need this code to clear. I already drove 150 miles or so in mixed driving.

There's TWO coolant sensors on these cars, one for the gauge, one for the PCM. One screwed into each neck of the crossover tube. So the temp gauge will read just fine, engine will run well, but the computer is seeing a code it does not like. I had that code after my water pump went up and tossed the belt. the belt flew up against the temp sensor and cracked the connector. I was able to resolder it.
If you don't have a scanner, you should get one. Some Autophix unit from Amazon will do just fine. You can get Autozone to turn the code off for you, but as you know if there is a problem it will just come back. The default reading on the scanner while running is -196F. So if you scan the engine at idle and you see that temp, you know you have an open circuit /broken wire /bad sensor . Unless you are in outer space, LOL then it is reading correctly.

This
like OP @1Marauder I needed to smog a car and the temp reading was fine.... but had a check engine AKA no passing smog.
Turns out my car has 4 temp sensors (1991 3000GT VR4) the ECU sensor was bad with a failed sensor shorting to 0ohm but the AC and dash were fine.
