I just finished wiring my head unit and backup camera.
Thats the good news.
The bad....
If the car is on, the backup lights are now lit.
The backup camera functions correctly in reverse, but it also turns on when the power window switch is activated. 🤔
The purple/white wire for the camera is tapped from th he backup light in the trunk.
I'm not sure what else is pertinent, but if any other information is need I can provide.
BADMERC, you're local... maybe you can be of assistance?

By the way guys... not a noob here. I used to be here as propilot82, but since returning, haven't been able to log in with it so just created this one.

Sounds like you wired the power to your camera in line with the reverse lights and accessory circuit. Power your camera ONLY with the reverse lights. The purple wire on your head unit only triggers the camera screen and should only be connected to the same wire that powers your camera and the reverse lamps. Also, make sure the camera is grounded properly or it will search for it using a residual ground path.

The RCA connector had a red lead on both ends. that and the camera power are on the black/pink wire to the reverse lights. The red lead on the RCA on the head unit end is on an ignition powered lead IIRC.

Ok, remove it from the ignition lead and connect it ONLY to the camera trigger wire on the head unit.

Got it. Will try it in the morning.

Removed the power feed at the RCA on the head unit end as you said.
Now it works as intended!
Now I just need to figure out the parking brake bypass... I have the green wire to ground on a relay, furst powered by switched ign., and now by the remote wire, and they apparently ground it too fast as it wont let a dvd play, but if I disconnect the ground momentarily it will play. (Note: the unit is a Pioneer AVH-P6000DVD from 2009)

Buy the parking brake bypass. They're less than 10 bucks. Happy I could assist. We'll have to get together some time. Mine's been parked for 7 months and it's about to get out and start making a carbon footprint again.
