View Full Version : FUEL PRESSURE SPIKE FOLLOWED BY ENGINE STALL - WHAT IS THIS?

Hey friends,

It's been a loooooooong time - hope everyone is well!

The Marauder has been stalling lately. Will just cut out randomly. Never at idle, but while driving...

No computer codes...

Mechanic put a fuel pressure gauge on it...

Pressure is a bit unstable. May be 30psi for a while. Next time I start it, may be 45psi. At one point is was just over 20psi.

It gets worse: the pressure will suddenly spike to about 80psi and kill the motor instantly while driving, with pressure falling back to its baseline, OR it will spike, making the motor run rough, the pressure will drop briefly down to zero, and then return to its current baseline (whatever that may be at the moment) with the motor returning to smooth operation.

Don't want to just start throwing parts at this, especially as I no longer have the luxury of doing my own work.

Your input is much appreciated...

Any codes associated with this?

Mine spiked just like you’re saying and then it would drop like a rock to zero and the car wouldn’t start for another 45 minutes. This was always in traffic

I ended up going return style fuel system and it never happened again. Having bypassed both the fuel pump driver module and the fuel rail pressure sensor I’d say your problem lies in one or the other.

No, I should have mentioned that - will update the OP, thanks.
