Best way to clean exhaust tips?

I seem to remember there might have been ideas on here before but can't seem to find them doing a google search etc. Regardless, I think it's been awhile on this disussion. But given the age and road grime, what is the best way to get the exhaust tips looking super shiny again? Is steel whool too abrasive to use to get the gunk off? What do you guys use and what do you suggest?

I just use chrome polish.

Turtle Wax Bug and Tar remover and then Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish.

0000 steel wool and chrome polish with some elbow grease and a soft new microfiber towel to buff off.
