Hi guys,
Hoping to get some input on this.
Been noticing a tapping/ticking noise from the engine when warm.
I brought the car in today and Ford techs said they couldn't find anything wrong. According to Ford this is normal. I don't like the idea of this noise coming from a car with less than 9000 miles on it. Anyone else have this experience? What do you think?

9,000 miles?! Sounds like you're lucky. Mine had it at 900 miles!
You may be hearing the injectors ticking away. That can usually only be heard with the hood up or if you're REALLY starining to hear it. The sound is normal.
What many of us here have is much worse. It's a valve "tick" that is caused by poor coolant flow through the rear portion of the driver side cylinder head. The valve guides heat up and the exhaust valves end up "slapping" around inside of the guide. This "ticking" is audible from up to 30-40 feet away. It's most audible from the driver side wheel well area.
A handful of us (incuding me) have been able to present this case to our dealerships and get the heads replaced under warranty. The problem is that the new heads have the same problems as the first ones. I put 1,000 miles on my new head and the "tick" came right back... louder then before. Apparently a service message just came out. It says that Ford is aware of the problem and currently developing a permanent fix.
Run a search of these forums for "valve tick". You should find ALOT of information.

This is one case I must insist you do a SEARCH for "valve tick" here. There are 8 different threads, some quite extensive.
Read up, add your comments, as many of us, including myself, are tracking these occurences for future reparations.
BTW: Mine has ticked since day one.

Here's another twist on the problem. When I drive it "normal" it taps when hot. If I drive it hard 4-5 times in a row, it stops ticking for the next 20-30 minutes. Quiet as can be. This is a 300B with 14,000 on it. The other one a 300A with 30,000 on it has never made any sounds at all. Of course I think Susan is really driving it hard all the time and not saying as her gas mileage is usually 2 MPG less than me. Anyone else noticed if it goes away after a few WOT runs?
