I'm in the market to get new tires and am considering the same Pirelli's on the KB cars in 255/45-18 and 255/50-18.

Since our choices are very limited, what are your feeling on these tires compared to the stock BFG's?

I have been searching high and wide for new tire size combos and have had very little luck matching fronts and rears. I'll find a nice rear, but no matching front...or a nice front, no rear.

Thanks...
Danny

I don't have a Kenny Brown car, but for what it's worth, there are members on this board who've successfully used P255/50's on all four corners. Mac being one of them.

Danny, I have 6800 miles on my car so far and have no problems with tire wear. What I have read and have been told the Pirelli's are one of the stickest street tires on the market and they help hold your car to the road. I also do not get a lot of tire spin when I get into it under WOT. When my tires finally wear out I plan on replacing them with the same type. Hope this helps.

Well, that's one positive opinion. I am almost debating on going with the same size all around but I kinda like the slope that the car has.

Do you have a clear side shot of your car? The ones in the KB webpage aren't too clear.

I have the 255/45-18 in front and 255/50-18 in the rear to clear up any confusion. No I do not have any pics of my car on the site with that angle. I will look at what I have at home and PM/e-mail them to you. Might be later in the weekend before I get to it though.

That's cool...

In comparing the difference in size front to rear, are the Pirellis closer in size front to rear than the BFGs are?

I like the rear tires bigger but want less of a difference.

I have driven my car for 24k miles and am very happy with the cornering and stopping power of the tires. Even with the hardest pressure on the brake I could not break into a skid with the tires going from 60 to zero.

I am replacing the rear tires because I have only 1/32 in. thread. And my front tires still have 4 to 5/32 in. of thread depth left.

I have the 255/45Z18 in front and 255/50Z18 in the rear. I just bought two of the same rear tires again.

I guess I haven't been cornering hard enough!

Hmmm....now I'm more sold...hehe.

I just love how my car sits with the 1 turn off of the coils...I'd love to have wider tires front and rear.

The BFGs and brakes saved me from a head on today. Some MORON delivery idiot parked his freaking 18' box truck in the driving lane on a curve in a 55MPH zone. I was coming around a curve to the south of him going north and it registered that this just didn't look right. I hit the brakes and just then a car comes out from behind the truck. So I mash the brake pedal and start for the right shoulder. No where to go, tree 2' off the road. Well she missed me and I came to a dead stop with some room to spare. I pulled up to the truck and inquired as to his mental capacity for parking there and not in the driveway. He started the lip as I dialed the phone and said this Captain... I'm on River Rd and need a unit here NOW. He moved the truck and will be explaining his actions to a local magistrate. moron drivers never cease to amaze me....... :censor: :censor: :censor:

It looks like I'll be following you on the tires as well as the springs - ya gotta love this site for great people and great ideas!

I have run Goodyear EMT Eagles (Corvette OEM tires) 275/40/18 on mine for over a year, and they are fantastic for the road, but not worth a damn for the track. At the price, they should get 50,000+ miles. Mine are finally wearing fast, at 40,000, so they should be good (with proper balance and alignment) for 50k. I will be trying Pirellis next for street use, and see how they hold up. The original BFG's are good tires, but I didn't get much mileage out of the OEM issue, largely due to balance and alignment issues.
