Has anyone installed, yet? What type? Net results? I'm thinking about it and need some advice...

I'm waiting for more news of this myself, Todd, there was something a while back about a Steeda kit, but I don't recall much. Anyone got some info?

I believe March has a "slip over" pulley set, to where Steeda is a direct replacement. I personally like the Steeda's because of that reason. They're also the most popular under drive pulley out there for the Stangs. Look at www.corral.net and see how many people have Steeda's, A LOT!

I would probably be leaning towards Steeda and have been told by the guy who works on my car that there no longer are the problems which had been previously associated with pullies i.e. altinator concerns, a-c power, etc.

Just wondering if anyone here had put them on so not to be set up myself as the "guinea pig"...(sp?...not a word I spell too often)...

Maybe I could ask obelcz how to spell "gerbal"....

I wouldn't waste my time with them. You can get more power from other mods without risking overheating and current loss. They are fine if you are at the strip evey week.

See...I've heard both sides and I'm still wondering if anyone has taken the leap, yet...with the MM

The ASP REPLACEMENT ONLY setup is the serious power maker on this engine. We have had the best success with this unit and have tried everything imagineable along the way.

We do not reccomend the use of the 3-piece set-up's simply because of the severe underpowering of the alternator at lower speeds which inturn leads to premature failure as well. This is detrimental on such an electrical dependant vehicle.

It will also raise the coolant temps from the slower turning water pump.

Plus all the power comes from the crank pulley size anyway.

Call ASP and ask for lee, you will need the 96-98 Cobra dampner/pulley.

Got my Steeda Pulleys and didn't replace the Generator pulley, because I popped off the plastic cup on the generator pulley and there is no nut! a 3/4" hole with about 50 splines in it. the following is the Shop Manual explanation:

SECTION 414-02: Generator and Regulator 2003 Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis/Marauder Workshop Manual

DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Generator
The generator has an internal voltage regulator that is not repaired separately. A new generator and voltage regulator must be installed as an assembly.

All Marauder 4.6L 4V applications are equipped with a one-way clutch (OWC) in the generator pulley. The OWC pulley temporarily disengages the generator rotor from the front end accessory drive (FEAD) system during high acceleration/deceleration rates on the engine, which may increase belt life and decrease belt chirp. A new OWC pulley and generator/voltage regulator must be installed as an assembly.

I've had them on for a while now with no problems. I used the kit for the '01 Cobra, Crank and Water Pump pulley. These are replacement pulleys and uses the stock belt.

Where did you get your Shop Manual and how much was it? You have a part number?

Thanks

Overlord,

I have the DVD version and I got it off of EBAY, about $40.
http://search.ebaymotors.com/search/search.dll?GetResult&st=2&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&query=dvd&ebaytag1=ebayreg&siteid=100&s_partnerid=2&category3=6759&combine=y&from=R9

Talked to my Parts Man at the dealer and he said I can have his DVD parts manual as they update it every month or quarter? any way he said he just throws the old ones away.

That's a sweet deal...I'm gonna try my dealer, if Moparzz hasn't glommed it from them already... :D

Thanks

I just ordered my Steeda pulley set. Somewhere on a post in this forum was a statement that there was no change in hp but about 20ft-lb increase in torque. Since the alternator pulley is not replaced, it is not underdriven as much as it would be with the entire kit so the charging system should be ok. I'll see soon. Wish I had a chassis dyno to validate every mod!

my place (Dealer) in ATL has an in-ground Dyno. Come do those pullies down here...
