Jerry or anyone else who might know something about California that I don't can feel free to correct me on this if infact a correction is in order, but I don't believe that any S/Cer kits are technically "Legal" in California. Right? Atleast not for the Marauder. And furthermore how would they even know that you have it? In the emissions inspections that they've had here in my homestate, they've never opened the hood during those inspections. Do they open up the hood during the emissions inspections in your state? I mean why would they? If they don't then there's nothing to worry about. And during a traffic stop a police officer isn't going to require you to open up your hood either. Therefore I don't see what the concern about being "C.A.R.B." certified is for.
To my knowledge it's just like installing headers on your car. technically they're illegal in most states. But who cares? They don't inspect for such things. And installing a Trilogy S/Cer keeps all the emissions devices intact on your car. So having the S/Cer won't cause it to fail the emissions test.

Having lived in the Republic of California,Yes Bill they do open the hood every 2 years, and yes,the average cop can open your hood and have a look to see if you comply.
But I bet if you got an unpolished blower and knew somebody you might be able to get by for a year or 2.
The truth is for hasle free Maraudering the CA guys NEED an E.O. Number.

From my experience on the Focus forums, YES, they are that strict. Even headers have to be C.A.R.B. certified. Now NYS is headed that way. Sniffer tests in cow country, give me a break... :bs:

Yes, Texas is getting stricter every year too. They actually just started dyno'ing cars to get emissions reading at other than idle.

We've been dodging that bullet for about 2 years now in the San Antonio area(Bexar County).Problem is I live in Gaudalupe County and the Fed is going to try and drag us into testing too if SA goes.
Do they still talk about ozone action day up north Logan?

Nothing like California. When "Ma Richard's" was governor here she thought that was a great Idea, strict emissions standards and exorbitant fees to have them done. But when W got to be governor he backed off that
for the time being. We are now at the place you see those other folks posting about and undoubtedly it will get tighter. My understanding is, and I'm no expert, that you have to pass the tail pipe test and the rest is not so important. As long as you haven't deactivated any smog equipment you're probably in good shape.
