I'm still under 5000 miles on my Girl, but I know what's comming down the road, for all of us. Brakes.

Whats stock works fine and feels good. However, I'm getting more power now, and my driving habits have changed. When you make something faster, it's gotta stop better too. Besides, the way some of you love to brake your standing start, this topic is probably one that should be shown the respect of an upgrade, or, "mod" as we have come to call that.

How about it? Anyone care to help sketch out an update to the stock MM brake system?

Absolutely needs to be thoroughly explored. Mensera has brake package from K.B. Is that a place to start? And what can anyone tell us about possibility of adapting truck brakes?

I believe we've got a pretty good system from the factory. A couple of things I may consider when the time comes are drilled rotors and better pads. I've seen ads in Mustang magazines for places that can drill rotors and maintain proper balance, strength, etc. but have quicker cooling for better stopping power.

I have Baer 14 inch rotors and PBR2 calipers, the brakes are incredible... you only think the brakes you have on the car are good... wait till you try the Baer or AP 6 pistons... Baer system including stainless lines is a little over one thousand bucks..

Check out this link for more info on the Baer brakes Baer/Brembo brake discussion (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?threadid=436&highlight=baer+brake)

I'm going with the Baer package (front and rear) and Red or Stainless calipers. I've already got a price from a local shop...$1,150 installed.

I like the idea of the Baer package; a proven source. Any comparison numbers on stopping distance from about 60 mph between stock and Baer?

Thanks for the hip to Baer, Mensrea, the MM is now in their catalogue with a kit.

Took the fun out of my thread, but it's nice to see something from the aftermarket with our car listed...Finally!

In case you guys didn't see them before, here are pics of the Baer system installed, my car has two otions added, polished calipers, and slotted and zinc washed rotors....

I have no hard numbers yet on the stopping ability, but I can tell you it is much better, and fade is totally minimized (which is equally critical). I added slotted zinc washed rotors for the rear, and left the calipers stock.

Well, it sure seems like this will be a short thread. I've been mousing around the Baer site, and it really looks like my question has an answer. Thanks to Mensrea and Todd, and others who offered their input. When my Girl wants brakes, she'll get the Baer essentials.

Sergnt - My car is stock and the brakes feel good...but not great. The Baer system is definately on my list.
BTW, I thoroughly enjoy your posts.

If it uses the same pad type, the Police Interceptor pads may be an idea
