If so, would he be FTA? QTA?

LOL! No, no more 3rd gens for me. I found my darling years ago, and I'm not letting go of her anytime soon, especially not for a 1982-1983 (possibly 1984?). Besides, those KITT cars were real whores... the dashes were just boxed together to look semi-functional, they were real hack jobs. I found a web site some 2 years ago where one guy came across an original TV car (I suppose there were many of them, not one as the link above suggests) and undertook a complete revamp of the car, attempting to bring it to functional status (minus turbo boost, I imagine). This included functional TVs (linked to a rear-facing camera mounted under the rear hatch up top) and functional gages using the TV car's look.

Couple this with the fact that there are plenty of functional replicas out there that are probably in better shape than the original TV cars would ever be, I don't see the big deal with this auction (other than to own a piece of TV history, I guess...).

No, if I ever decide to make the move to QTA/FTA status instead of my current TTA, it would be an early 70s model (70-73).

This would, of course, technically invalidate my 'own one from every generation' philosophy, so the real victory would be scoring a 1969 T/A (the only year they existed in the 1st gen of Firebirds from 1967 to 1969, and even then only some 697 were made). This would invariably lead to a divorce and/or bankruptcy (have you priced a 1969 T/A lately?).

That doesn't stop me from wanting to get a 4th Firebird, of course... my eventual goal is to add something like this to my stash:

... in ANY color other than black!!!!! I'm not crazy about the hood scoops on the 400 cubic inch models (the Firebird 400) and it would have to be a V8 (thereby nixing the cool exotic 250 cubic inch OHC straight six) so by elimination it would have to be a Firebird 350. Not necessarily in excellent or original shape, but clean and definitely driveable / reliable. And not too expensive...

That Ferrari is, IMHO, the most beautiful car ever made. The 308. Mmmmmm. *drool*
