anyone care to guess on how many MM are on the street?

That's a good question Sergnt...my dealer has sold at least 5 that I know of, and that was only through Sept., yet I've never seen another one on the road...'course, I've also never seen any ADVERTISING for a Marauder in either the local bird-cage liner, or in the big Boston paper...

SergntMac,

Well if you are running a pool I'll take 3500 sold as my number... I think that 5000 presales number posted was either "optimistic" or included dealers taking over their minimum allotment..

Other than at our monthly breakfasts and SVTOA meetings I have yet to see another MM on the road...

RF - you mean there are at least 5 more Marauders running around the cape? Got to have a Mass get together in the spring. I was out cruising around this weekend and to my surprise a MM pulled up behind me on 106 in Mansfield. First one I've seen on the road.
I let him pass me and he took off in a different direction than me. With only 400 miles on the odom, I'm a little hesitant to run her hard.

slowpoke's guess..... 8422 MM on the street as of 1-14-03 5:35 CST.
what did I win?

I live in the Twin Cites area and when I bought mine in early October my dealer did not know of any one sold in the area yet. But there are a few still sitting on lots that I've seen.

As a side note to Slowpoke, congratulations on your latest upcomming additon to your Marauder.

A little over 4,000 would be my guess...

Slowpoke,

No prizes, we're not as crafty as you! ;)

Also living in the Twin Cites, MN - I believe my dealer sold one before I bought mine in early July.

I have only seen one other around town, I did a double take when I saw it parked next to me at the Byerly's in Roseville. It surprised almost as much as the time I came out of a restaurant to find a 76 Eldo Vert parked across the lot from mine, same colors only inverted (white ext/red int vs. mine red ext/whit int)

Never have seen one in the DFW area either, and there is one less with Logan's ride being sold and gone to Oklahoma.

Funny thing I know that are many many MM in the Phila. metro area but, I have never seen one when out and about? Watch the boards for a March get together.

My dealer says he's sold three. And the inventory at another nearby dealer is down one from last month. Yet I haven't seen another around town.

It would be interesting to know - can't be very many, hmm?

Maybe 5000 or so?

Dealer update...

Went by the dealer today and my salesman told me they've sold 7.

Total...since the beginning.

...and they won't be ordering any more unless a customer special requests it, which he didn't didn't seem too keen on; they obviously were told to take 7, and of course would rather sell floor plan than special orders.

So I've still only accounted for 2; where are the other 5? Are you out there, Cape Marauders?

Called my guy at LM, asked him to check it out. He called back today.
These are strictly MMs, no GMs

2002 deliveries from 1 Jun 02 2900
2003 deliveries through 15 Jan 03 96

And we have 500 members logged in...nice slice of the market, eh?

I just have to start another thread on this, eh?

I'll bet at least 20% of our fellow members don't own one yet.

If my estimate is true, and say 50% of those will be able to buy a MM this year, that's a potential 50 cars someone could sell. :)

"Garagemahal" and "Strider74" are the first I've heard of around here and I havent seen either one. I bought mine mid nov (I think) and was the last one they had.

The good news is if those numbers SergntMac's source gave out are right we are more uncommon than the SVT products at the moment...:D

The bad news is I recall reading Mercury's planned run was 15,000 for the first model year... Kind of looks like that 5,200 they claimed were pre-sold in their early press releases were to dealers... that next 10,000 isn't going to happen at this rate...maybe 7,000 total if the 500 a month average keeps up..

My dealer still has some of their first allocation and has no plans to order more... Between two locations they have sold 6...

Just might be worth keeping the MM for the long term if this keeps up..:)
