Well,.. I'm about to buy a 78 Jeep CJ-7. It's pretty sweet, 35" tires, Fuel Injected 360cid (with about 400 rwhp), 4:11 gears, and a 4 speed manual transmission.

Here's the problem, It's in Cleveland, OH, I'm in Killeen, TX. I guess I'm gonna have it trailered here.

How can I go about finding a good carrier? I didn't see anything in my Yellow Pages.

Thanks!

This is who I used to transport my 67 Cyclone from Ca. to Phila. A few of my friend used them too. No the cheapest, but they are the best. RAY

There are numerous transport companies advertised in Old Cars Weekly or Hemmings Motor News. Check with Martyo, He was quite satified having his Marauder transported to and from Maraudrville I.

Your best bet is to fly up and drive it back.

Cost me $500 for the round trip from San Diego to MN to pick up my MM.

Flight, gas, food and a fathers day gift in a Colorado gift shop...

I'm thinking that's what I'm gonna have to do.

Man,.. it's gets about 13 mpg!

It has a 20 gal. tank so I can get 260 miles per tank.

Acorrding to Yahoo Maps it's 1373.6 miles away.

I'd have to stop for gas 5.28 times.

Figure an average of $2.00 per gal.

That's $211.20 in gas for the trip....

not to mention a one way ticket to Cleveland.

I guess that would be cheaper....... :o

Try TNT Transport at 866-566-5227 and ask for Mary at ext. 3542. Tell her the crazy guy with the Marauder in NY sent you. She should remember me!! She hooked me up a few times and she gave great service.

Based on 1,373 miles, you can be back in 2 days...... if you plan to drive 700 miles a day at least. Save $1,000 by driving 2 12 hour days would be worth it to me.

On the other hand, depending on your age, you could do it non-stop. I drive to Ft Lauderfdale often non-stop, over 1,250 miles. I made it in 17 hours last time, averaging 72/73 mph overall.

I picked up my LX Sport in San Antonio Tx, and drove it home 1100 miles to Clearwater, FL. Total expense was <$500 including a one way Southwest ticket, two hotel rooms, and 3 1/2 tanks of gas. Course, this car got 22-24 mpg. and it was air conditioned and smooth. That jeep is going beat the snot out you over 1300 miles. It is going to be tough to do 12 hr days in that thing.

I'm flying out of Mpls. tomorrow morning at 10am to fly to Chicago to pick up a Taurus SHO (1993). Going to use it as a winter car.

Should be a nice trip home.... :)

Put a hitch and brake contoller in the Marauder, rent an aluminum car hauler, and go get it! These big body on frame cars used to be used to pull 25' travel trailers in the old days. At least until cars fell out of favor to trucks and SUV's, and drivers became much more stupid. AND the car companies figured out that if they derated the tow ratings on cars so buyers would buy the MUCH more profitable trucks and SUVs.

I keep saying that I'm gonna put a hitch on the Marauder to tow our 4000lb boat (mostly to irritate my wife). But it actually matches my F150 paint-wise.
