Ford was going to kill the Mustang and replace it with the FWD 4 banger and V6 Probe. Angry Mustang fans bombarded Ford with letters and look at where the Mustang is today, almost 10 years after it was supposed to be eliminated from the line up. If we want the Maraduer to come back we should employ similar tactics. Ford Mo. Co. marketing is out to lunch...I can't remember the last time I saw a cool car ad from them at all. Actually, I can't remember the last time I saw a car ad. It seems they just want to sell their trucks. We might need to give the marketing department a wake up call.
And there is no reason why SVT can't have a hot four door RWD under it's umbrella of products so they can pull in the Marauder and give it the attention and support it deserves. But Ford seems to be doing all it can to mess up SVT too. Considering GM and Chrysler have created new company wide performance divisions Ford finds itself with a performance division that has 0 cars in it for one model year. Brilliant.
SiLver_04 made this statement and I could not have said it better myself. We would all like to know where to send our comments, questions and ideas concerning the Marauder. Well I was able to find an e-mail address after weeks of research where we can send our thoughts about the Marauder. So if you truely would like to see a possible rebirth of the Marauder as a RWD car, please send all correspondence to :

Haggis,
You're absolutely on the right track and I absolutely agree with you. However, individually bombarding a Ford executive willy nilly will simply get them ticked and they start looking to shut down the source, namely, this site.
So, to that end, I've already been working on a co-ordinated effort between our sister site, mercurycougar.net (Who are just as ticked there isn't any performance mercs now or to come), to compile comments, names/contact information of all those mercury owners who are displeased with Ford's attitude and direction with Mercury.
This is something I'm actively working on and expect to have a web page up to collect all the information within the next week or so, I will then batch the comments up and submit them to Steve, Jim and the other folks at Ford that need to hear Mercury Owners speak out.

I fully support this idea.
I can 'sort of' consider Pontiac to be the 'Mercury' equivalent within the GM fold, to a certain extent, especially when it came to the F-cars. As evidenced by my current stash of cars, I've always been okay with giving up a *little* in performance in exchange for a better interior, better luxury, and (subjectively speaking) better styling, versus the lighter (and less expensive) Chevrolet equivalent. I got lucky with my WS6 in that it gives up nothing to the Camaro in any style of performance, and with the Marauder, I got the added benefit of it being the BEST Panther offering within the Ford lineup to boot with NO competition!
There are rumours of a Camaro in the near future... doesn't interest me much. Likewise, a CV Sport would always leave me wanting a distinctive Mercury touch. I've used the term "having your cake and eating it too" previously. I'd love to have that choice in the future, if I am to stay with Ford.
I'm in for writing whoever might hear us.

I'll bet you $1,771,561 that is will be wrong-wheel drive, though...
Can you say "I-M-P-A-L-A SS"?

I believe that FOMOCO has NO interest in our cars. Am I bothered by it? No. There was never any real effort put forth by Ford to make the MM a household name. The segment that loves this car is unique and actually buys it is very small. I have guys ask me every week what I am driving. In 2 years my dealership only sold two MMs because that is all they received. I may be selfish but I am glad that Ford stopped production. Now I have something that no one else can get.
I am the poster child for orphan cars from FOMOCO
1. Merkur Scorpio
2. Two SHOs
3. MM

LOL!
You know, for a while I wondered if I had something to do with it... right now I too own nothing but discontinued models!
RF: I'm very doubtful it'll be FWD. All reports have it sharing the new platform due out sometime soon. It's the same platform that's going to be used by that new upcoming Buick with the fruity name. Should be RWD and V8 (327 cubic inches, possibly) on the SS model, V6 for the base model. A Z28 model is due later, with some sort of big hp jump (6.0l LS2?)

Don't waste the postage Ford is never going to Return the MM to production, it just didn't sell very well. If they had put the Mustang Cobra motor in it with the SC then it would probably still be in production. The good news is that they only made it for 2 years so maybe it will be a collectors item and retain its value.

I think this is a good idea. Maybe they will listen and get thier head out of thier fourth point of contact! Simple math....Good Vehicle + Happy Customer= Loyal Buyers!!! And = $$$$$$$. Even I can figure that one!!!
I disagree with them shutting down the source, thats :bs: . If they get that narrow minded then they dont need my money!!!!

Probably worth a shot, but I'm not hopeful. Ford seems to have their hands full trying to stay out of bankruptcy.
Besides, there are/were hundreds of thousands if not millions of Mustang enthusiasts around the world. Plus, we had the automotive press behind us back then. How many Marauder enthusiasts are there? And how much of the automotive press would even be interested?
I guess it could happen. We saved Star Trek, too...

Try contacting this Mercury hotline:

I got this info a little while back. I was told this is the contact info if you need something that a dealer can't or won't help you with.

I'll tell you what i am most angry about, the fact that there is absolutely no SVT line-up in 2005, the fact that there is no projected line-up in 2006. The fact that the SVT Mustang Cobra has been put on hold indefinatly, the fact that the same has been done to the SVT F-150 Lightning (I'm not sure on the status of the SVT Focus i don't follow that car). The SVT Cobra and Lightning have always sold increadibly well because of the amazing performance that Ford put into these cars. I cannot remember a time since the early 90s where there has not been an interest/desire/want/demand for the SVT vehicles, now Ford just says heck with it? If Ford has absolutely no care in the planning or making of SVT Cobra's and Lightnings, we have a better chance of seeing the end of the world than we do a revival of the Marauder. Ford touts the Crown Victora LX Sport as if it were some type of high performance vehicle now, and while I am not saying that it is not a nice car, there are priorities awry when there are 5 new CV LX Sports sitting in front of a dealership as opposed to an SVT vehicle.
. . .(I'm not sure on the status of the SVT Focus i don't follow that car). . .
The Focus SVT was dropped too. I had a 2003 SVT Focus but it just wasn't all it was hyped up to be. Runours of a Turbocharged version for 2006 but I doubt it will come. Their European version the RS far outshines anything we had in the US.

SVT stopped all production to work on the Ford GT. Now that that car is done, their focus (punn) is back on the Mustang (Cobra, Shelby or both) and the Lightning. Both vehicles are totally new. According to SVT, they needed time to design the new parts. As for the SVT Focus, I heard that car was scrapped.
Besides, it make perfect "cents" to put SVT on the back burner. With all the hype about the new Mustang GT, all the Mustang guys are buying them up faster than they can be built. After the bubble bursts, you will probably see a specialty Mustang like the Bullitt, Mach 1 or Boss in 2006. Then in 2007 the SVT Mustang.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: The Marauder should have been an SVT vehicle

:mad2: Ford's attitude toward SVT and other Performance Vehicles over the past year or so really pisses me off. Other than the GT this year, the next vehicle is the 2007 Cobra. Without vehicles like Marauder, Lightning, Cobra, etc., Ford is just another boring Make of vehicles. If I wanted a boring car I would have bought a Honda.
This article seems to fit the sentiment of this thread.

The following is also on BON concerning SVT and the Lightning:
SVT Lightning
"Common sense apparently reigns over in Dearborn, as Ford has decided not to build its next-generation F-150 SVT Lightning pickup truck, in favor of making sure that its next-generation SVT Cobra Mustang, due for the 2007 model year, is as good as it can possibly be. Even though Ford is suggesting that the next Lightning is only postponed, you can bet that it will never see the light of day. We applaud this move - now, if they'd only bring back the SVT Focus..."

"Why didn't SVT give them more power and/or manual transmissions to silence the critics?"
Oh man a Marauder with a 5 or 6-speed, oh god, that would be sweet.:cloud9:
