View Full Version : I'm Going to Public School...I'll Need a Car

See, as far as my schedule goes, if I take the bus to school, I'm there almost an hour early and there's nothing for me to do and the study hall and cafeteria are closed. Also, I'd have to get up before my dad to take a shower and we're all trying to do the same thing at once. Then have some more extra time to sit around and wait for the bus after I'm ready.

So instead we've decided to let me take the Grand Marquis to school. I'll get there on time, and get some extra sleep in the morning. But here's the trouble. My mom needs a car during the day! MOST of the time I'll take the car, but I will sometimes have to take the bus. If this becomes too much of a problem my dad will buy a new car and give me the mini-van to drive to school (I'm OK with that, it's got a 6-disc, a sunroof, and leather...only 70,000 miles)

So here is what my dad is interested in buying (Read: I added the Marauder to the list)

Infiniti G35 Coupe 6sp

Mercury Marauder

If he gets the Marauder...I'll get a Marauder for college that I won't have to pay as much for! So...you can guess what I'm hoping for.

James you mean to tell me that after I gave him a ride in KB #8 that he is still considering buying a car other then a Marauder. :awe:

Hey good luck in public school, now you will get to see how the other half lives.

I know! He says to me "It's not the great speed and acceleration...it's the looks I want"

That being said...he better get a Cobra if he doesn't get a Marauder or else.:twocents:

If it's the looks he wants then a Marauder is what he wants. When I go places with the car I am always getting asked questions about it. Even had the hood opened during a traffic jam on I-70 going to Cleveland in May. The truckers were asking all sort of questions. So if your dad wants to be styling and profiling the Marauder is the car he wants. :coolman:

Then maybe he should also add the Ford GT to the list. :woohoo: :thinker:

Good point(s)!

Either way...I'll be terribly annoyed with how sluggish the mini-van is. What can I do to a front-wheel drive, 155 horsepower, nissan V6 thrown to a wagon on stilts!?

How about 5gal. gas & a match - take the insurance money & put a down payment on a Marauder!
I know - that was bad but I couldn't stop myself.

Then have some more extra time to sit around and wait for the bus after I'm ready. Not that I want to interfere with your angling for the mini van, but back in the dark ages when I rode the bus to school, the powers that be made accomodations for students to wait for their first classes, usually in the auditorium. That was assuming you didn't sign up for an "early" class that started an hour before normal classes.

I rode into town from a rural route, which was a 90 minute bus ride going in, 2 hours coming home (I had to transfer from one bus to another.) When I had an early elected class, I had to catch a ride with a neighbor on his way to work so i could make the class, which mean't I had to be up and ready to go at 6:00 AM, then waited around at school from 7:00 AM until the class started at 8:00. They didn't unlock the doors untl 7:30, so I froze my cojones off in the winter, and rain was not my favorite either. Football practice ended after the bus left, so I had to wait for my Dad to come get me after he got off work at 5:30, so many times I was the last player picked up (usually around 6 to 6:30 PM).

When I started driving myself to school, my grades suffered because I didn't have the additional study time in the morning and evening I had when I rode in early, had to wait for Dad, or had time to study on the bus rides. That, and the 4-wheel bedroom factor.:D

James, if you and your family are in need of an excellent used car at a most reasonable price, check out the car I just listed for sale in the FOR SALE forum. I think you would probably like it. :)

If we get 575 members to donate $20 each to James, he could buy my 2001 PI and he wouldn't have any more sleep disruptions, transportation problems, carpool problems, or dead time problems.

I wouldn't want the kid to have to ride to school on public school buses, would you? :)

Well what are you doing in South Carolina then?? Get your butt up to Maryland we have .23 acres for you to mow. You also told me you were good at detailing cars. Well we have a Marauder, Firehawk, 2 Explorers and a Harley. I think all that work would be a good start for you.

...Or, I'm all for contributing to the "James Marauder Fund". I was going to donate $50 for you to come to Indy consider it for the Marauder. But, your parents will have to ok it. Give Doug and your mother my best and no more Magnums.
