Ok, wanted to let you all know my marauder just passed 36k miles. Actually its up to 36200 now. I was on my way home from San Diego to Las Vegas, and i heard a loud whine from my engine compartment. I knew i didnt install that supercharger yet, so it couldnt be that. So, i checked under the hood and could see the problem. It was the air conditioner compressor. It was hanging up and whining. So, i called up my local dealer when i got home. (now i am about 200 miles over my warranty) And they told me they would fix it under a "out of warranty claim".
Well, about a week later, here i stand. New compressor, lines, condensor, filter, flush and other parts. Total bill was around $1800 i think. I paid about $142. And i have a completely new air conditioner system. Thought i would let you all know. Let me know what you think. Hey, at least it didnt cost me an arm and a leg. And now, i have a new a.c. system.

I know i lucked out, my local marauder group has a good rapport with a local dealer. It helps to have friends.

Congrats on getting it fixed fairly cheaply!

Wanna hear tales that suck big time? The 36,000 mile/36 month warranty on my 2001 Police Interceptor expired on July 27, 2004. It only has 15,300 miles on it. I lost 20,700 miles of warranty. The 3 year/36,000 mile warranty on my F150 4X4 expired last July, with 6,000 miles on it. I lost 30,000 miles of coverage. The 1994 conversion van I have, 10 years old, only has 24,000 miles on it right now. I lost about 30,000 miles of warranty coverage on it too back in 1997. Ford makes out like a bandit on me, because the cost of anticipated warranty repairs and parts is figured into the car's MSRP from the very begining. Just like shoplifting losses are figured into everything you and I buy at Walmart. My wife bought the 6 year/100,000 mile warranty on her 2002 Impala for $1,200. I highly encouraged it as well since she keeps a car longer than I do, and she drives quite a bit more too. Combined with it being front wheel drive. Her 2002 already has 25,000 miles on it. Her warranty wil probably pay for itself in the long run.

Dave,
Glad to hear the dealer took care of you before it did more damage.

FYI "out of warranty claims" are at the descresion of the dealer .One is allowed by Ford, there a time and mileage restriction on this goodwill measure, but I forget exactly what they are. Dealer typically grants this to a good service customer.

Yes, i know how lucky i was. It works great, the only complaint i have it a weird noise it sometimes makes on a/c startup. Kinda like a vibrating sound. Anyway, its nice and cold.
Oh, and chrtra1, if you were a little closer, i would have visited. Hurry out and i'll buy you a beer!
