Yeah, as Steve Babcock told us in Indy at the IMOA banquet:

Production numbers for the Mercury Marauder:

2003 - 7839 (328 Blue, 417 Silver, rest black .. 7094)

2004 - 3213 (980 DTR, 997 Silver, 1236 Black)

Total production, 03 and 04 was 11,052

Anyone else surprised that they made more Mach Ones than Marauders? Wasn't the Mach One a very limited edition?

Naw. The Mach 1 has been featured with many more positive reviews in car mags, I see advertising for it and visually it grabs a lot more attention than any MM IMO. The Mach was only supposed to be around for one model year like the Bullitt but they sold so well Ford kept making them for '04.

for 2003 it was only going to be 6500 total but like you said it was so successful that Ford increased it to 97XX I'll have to do some digging for the actual number.

I own both a MM and a Mach 1. I have yet to see another Mach 1 on the road. I spot a MM about once every two weeks.
