That's okay. Remember, this is coming from a people that have lost virtually all of their home grown automotive brands to foreigners.

Look at what the Brits have to say about our great sports car. http://www.sleepy-fish.com/sleepy/Top_Gear_Corvette_lo.wmvI'm not neccessarily a big fan of the late model Vettes, however, it's amazing how much anti-American sentiment those creeps have in that video.I mean it's a show about cars, and yet there's all these negative political overtones thrown into his commentary. He even refered to our country as the "colonies". Give me a break. I also can't help but to think how much more impressive it is how much that same show host raved about the Ford GT in light of the fact that he's so anti-American. But as far as the Vette goes, their biased viewpoints didn't point out the fact that even though there are drawbacks about having a fiberglass body if there's a collision, there's also the plus side to fiberglass. namely the lack of rust potential.

I took if for what it was worth Billy, typical British comedy! It was great! All he is missing on that show is Mrs. Bucket (pronounced Bouque!)

hahaha :D :D :D

Yeah, I guess you have a point there John. Those Brits do have some zainy sense of humor......I still think that they failed to note the plus side of fiberglass bodies though.

I just had a look... c'mon guys, it's a car TV show in their typical brand of humor. Honestly, I think their approach is quite funny... I'd honestly rather watch that show than the venerable PBS staple Motor Week (which I've *always* enjoyed, mind you) which is informative but has a less-than-exciting host.

I think they summed it up quite nicely: look at all the stuff in the Corvette (now and previously) that is 'old tech' but that somehow works! No one on this board has held back from remarking on the LS1/LS6/LS2's "old style" valvetrain technology. But it works, and gets results.

And you have to admit that show has some awesome videography. From the clips I've seen online, you could take just about any road test of theirs, snip it a bit, add a heavy metal soundtrack, and you'd have a winner TV commercial. The best I've seen from up here is a parking lot off the 401 with orange cones strewn about on a lazy Sunday morning, as far as car road tests go (oh yeah, and a few lazy highway drive-bys). These Brits actually drive the snot out of their road test cars. No wasted words on cup holders heard on that test.

I enjoyed that clip, thanks for posting Bigslim. Makes me even more upset they didn't continue making a new generation F-body to house that new engine in, like they did with the LS1. :(

During the entire video I got the impression they wanted a Corvette with Cadillac luxury and a metal body. One biased soul standing there pushing in the back bumper while talking to another biased soul was also quite funny. And the little guy driving the Corvette in the drag race....... no wonder the Corvette came in third. :)

I'm with Steve on this one. They were pushin' it a little bit but they won't sell TVR's in any number near the corvette...let them have a little fun because boys are boys.

Lets see,the winna NSX has about 300hp but only weighs, what, about3200lbs.
911,what model(?) 400hp weight about 3400lbs.
TVR (cobra engine??,I don't know)400+hp easy and I bet under or very close to,3000lbs.
Loser vette 400hp I'm guessing over 3600lbs.

Then as we all know GEARING!
I have no idea what rear gear vettes are exported with (stock).3.31's?

Yea they pissed around about the plastic but last time I checked the Porchee uses the same stuff in the same place.
The only thing I've seen lately that has bumpers that don't flex are trucks, and unless you want big steel exposed bumpers you get a bumper cover. That FLEXES!

MY GUESS is the 95% track limit was found very quickly and was a very good time. The 95% limit was much lower, time wise in the other cars.IE 95% of the people that drive a car cold can make such-n-such a time in each car.The vette is easier for mortals to make very good times in.The others need seat time to get to the limits.

So I guess what I'm saying is the Vette makes you look good on the track quickly, because it's easier to drive, fast.OK I'll say it,takes less driver skill.

The C6 Corvette weights 3245lbs and has a rear end ratio of 3.42. It would blow the doors off any of those cars in a drag race. That is, if they had someone other than a bunch of biased English %&*@s driving the car. The C6 did 0-60 in 4.3s and a quarter mile of 12.7s in all of the major American car mags, none of the other cars they compared it too can touch that.

:toss:

This video was posted on the vetteforum a while ago and I hoped I would never have to hear about it again. The piece is as biased as a Michael Moore film and reinforces my opinion that English auto writers are scum.

ADE1000, yep, that's kinda what my original impression was of the video. The only good thing that they said about it was that it's track time on the road course was good. But everything else they said sounded biased, and downright anti-american.

They chose a 98 LB weakling to try and "row the gears" in the drag race...that little guy was bi*ching about the ponderous shifter....what a loser. He should stick to the original Mini Cooper...more his size! Or the Brit' could buy a new Mini Cooper....
Oh Wait...they're made by BMW! Are any "British" cars still owned by a British company?

I fell out of my chair when the guy cried about the heavy clutch...

Yea i figured the vette should have killed the others in a dragrace.
