Problem is, I didn't know I was racing. I thought I was just going to the next red light!! The guy probably used to have a ricer.

That does not surprise me, That GTO must weight 1500Lbs less than the Marauder and with more HP. But the GTO looks like crap IMHO, Looks like it was made in rice land.

Talked to a Pontiac man at a car show on
Saturday. He said starting in 2007
the GTO will be built in the USA and have
400 ponies!

Gotta Love it! :coolman:

LOL. I had a gal in a 3 Series BMW sedan surprise me the other weekend. Light turned green and she was gone...I was too stunned, impressed, busy writing down my number to give her, etc. to mash the go pedal and give chase.

Typically I race everybody, but they don't know it :)

I thought about a GTO before getting bent on a Marauder. However, after staring at the two I came to the conclusion that in years to come the MM, at least in my opinion, has a much more class look. The GTO is a tad too modern and hip looking.

...but it does have that LS1 V8. :)

The 400 number is supposed to happen for 2005 as the GTO should be getting the LS6 from the current Z06/CTS-V or the new LS2 from the new Vette.

GTO - aka the tasmanian devil of cars?

From the Canadian Museum of Nature: (http://www.nature.ca/notebooks/english/tasdevil.htm)

"Equipped with powerful jaws, it is not hesitant to attack animals much larger than itself. When excited, the pale ears gradually turn red. Despite its ferocious reputation, the little “devils” have proven to be easily tamed and, indeed, have become affectionate and playful companions."

...'cept they cause your ears to turn red.

Really? There GM goes again. How many sales of current models will be put off because people are waiting for the 2007 model?

Of course, it may not happen, and in 2007 there may not even be an imported GTO from Oz

So he didn't really "beat" you at anything. Did he think he was racing?

That does not surprise me, That GTO must weight 1500Lbs less than the Marauder and with more HP.I don't think it can weigh that much less. Probably more like 1,000 LBS less, yes. The Mustangs can't weigh any less than 3400 LBS, and I doubt that the GTO weighs less than they do. But the GTO looks like crap IMHO, Looks like it was made in rice land.Yep, I agree about the ricer looks. Definately not my cup of tea. but that LS1 motor is no joke, and it does have 70 more cubes of displacement than our engines do. So if both cars are stock, then the GTO should beat a Marauder hands down. Ofcourse if you have headers, 4.10 gears, and the Stallion torque converter w/the stall speed set to 3,000 RPM, then the GTO driver would only have seen your tail Lights as long as he didn't have 4.10 gears and headers on his car also.

I thought of buying the GTO before I wound up sitting inside one. Nice but too small for me. At 6'5" tall all I could think was, "If only the seat were lower."

I'm glad I got the Marauder even if I do get given the holeshot by a few pony cars that are half a ton lighter than I am, and I suspect some of those guys are a bit jealous, me riding in style inside a "police interceptor" interceptor, and them flashing around in something more akin to an experimental rocket sled.

Did I say I love this car?

Light turned green and she was gone...

If you had been in the Corvette she would not have tried to get away! :)

I had tried to race one on the highway but it was an elder man that did'nt want to lose(i guess) and the other was on the street at the light .we both took off when the light turned green i was ahead right away and he turned into a gas station about 25 30 yrds frm the light. But i'll find one one of these days..

I drove one at the Auto Show in Motion event they had in PA. I love the sound of but but I think it looks too plain for a new car. I'd rather buy the classic GTO to that thing. It performs pretty well though. Nice stiff handling and pretty good power. I don't remember the interior much. Had too much fun driving around the cones. :D

Yes and Who knows?

He "beat" me to the next intersection. Set the scene: both of us are in the #1 position at the red light. The light turns green and I step (with minimal pressure) on the gas. My reaction time is quicker than his. (Maybe he's playing with himself or something.) He blows by me at full throttle. He gets to the next light before me. Did he "beat" me? He evidently thought so.

Did he think he was racing? I don't attempt to get into the heads of others on the road. I have my own problems without having their problems to worry about. The way the GTO took off :turkey: , Yes, he thought he was racing. Did I give him the impression that I was racing him? I don't think so. :dunno: I've driven the same way off that light for the past year. No one else seems to think I'm racing. Besides I don't race on public roadways. :nono:

I don't know about all of that, but I pulled up beside a Cobra Mustang a couple of days ago with no intention of racing it. At first the guy did not know what I was driving, a Marauder with the Stage I kit, 4.10 gears, tuned, etc. and FlowMasters. He pulled around in front of me at the next light. I didn't think anything about it until I say dark smoke coming out of his exhaust pipes when he took off. I realized what he was doing as he pulled away and stomped it down just a little. He must have been a manual shifter because I nearly chrushed his rear end so I let off as he was smoking it as hard as he could. I didn't want to hurt the guy. :):)

:razz:It obviously wasn't an 03, or 04 Cobra since they're supercharged, and would smoke your Marauder.;)

As far as factory horsepower goes, Ford is lagging way behing General Motors and Chrysler.
