Sometime today, stop what you're fussing with, or over, and offer a prayer to the victims and heroes lost 9-11-01.

We shall never forget.

We should all take a moment of silence to give thanks for those who serve to keep us free. The soldiers, airmen, seamen and Marines, also let us not forget the police officers and firemen on the home front that keep us safe.

God Bless you all and thanks Mac for starting this Thread.

There isn't a dry eye here in New York.

Personally, I am still overwhelmed by the loss. Words can not express what it was like then or what it is like now.

God Bless America.

Never forget!

I too am thankful that you started this post. I hope everybody takes some time today to stop what they are doing, and say a prayer for those who were lost.

Please also continue to keep our troops overseas in your prayers! I assure you, it feels good to know that people back home are thinking of you and wishing you well!

To my Commanding Officer of the USS John Hancock (DD-981) Robert E. Dolan...forever in our hearts and prayers. Your son is growing into a wonderful young man and you would be proud of him as we are proud of you.
I look forward to the next life when we can be on the Starboard bridgewing and light the cigar lamp....Fair Winds and Following Sea's....

Thanks for remembering, spent two weeks at WTC in OCT 01 as part of the Coast Guard response team, lost a clergyman colleague who was a passenger on the airplane that collided with WTC#2 and another one who was providing assistance to the firefighters on the scene. The NYPD, FDNY, NYNJ Transit and many others lost many in the line of duty. The chaplain I was partnered with was a reservist from Long Island who lost one of his own congregation, a beautiful and intelligent 23 or so y.o. who was on the way to a very successful career. He escorted her family to the site, and it was powerful watching him as a mourner after seeing his warm and compassionate professionalism at my side.

Yes indeed. A most heartfelt thanks to all of those in uniform, law enforcement officers, firefighters and everyone else that works hard to ensure we all sleep safely at night. May we never forget.

I would add my own remembrances...I see NavChap was there with the Coast Guard too. My reserve unit, USCG PSU 307, was mobilized out of St. Pete, FL, and sent up on buses. Our boats were brought up by truck because nothing was flying and the USAF was already airlifting troops/supplies/etc. to Afghanistan. I remember arriving in Bayonne at the MOTBY that following Friday, and standing in the pouring rain looking across at lower Manhattan...it still amazes me to this day, how so much smoke could still be roiling out of Ground Zero, even with all that hard, cold rain...

I've attached a few pictures. MartyO, and the rest of the NYC members, will probably recognize the camera angles...we got put back on the buses because another PSU was already in place, and got sent on to Boston, where we sheperded the ocean liners that had been diverted in/out of the Black Falcon terminal for the next month. Kinda cold for us Florida types; actually saw some sleet while we were there...

The first two pictures were taken from the buses when we started out of NYC enroute Boston. The last one was taken at the CG Pier in Boston Harbor, near the end of our tour...see if you can spot the "historical artifact" in the background!

On a final note: I've read in the last few months how my old unit has been on deployment again...this time "far, far away..." I miss the guys (and even some of the gals...!)...sure wish I was there.... :gunfire:

I've been aboard the "historical artifact" so I'll let someone else guess. Thank you and all that serve our Country.

The above ^^^^^ says it best. Words fail and tears flow. I would also like to also mention the 22 friends, family and neighbors from Prince William County, VA who perished that day at the Pentagon. :flag:

I don't know if any of us who worked in those buildings will ever forget - or be the same. It wasn't in my office on the 105th floor of 2 WTC that day, something I never stop thinking about. We all lost so much - we still grieve - every day.

It is gratifying that so many keep the memory of the firefighters, police, clergy, private citizens and those in our armed forces; in their thoughts and prayers. All of them have became heros and engaged in countless, selfless acts of bravery, kindness and love.

To all our troops, law enforcement and federal, state and local agencies fighting the war against these depraved animals, I am forever grateful.

I thanked God that the United States was strong enough to withstand 9/11 and strong enough to persevere in this war against freedom.
