And we have difficulty getting our cars aligned.
Hey, if it worked for Ken Tyrell, why not do it on a street car.

I don't know what even compels me to bother asking this question about that piece of garbage, but other than it looking as rediculous as many of the ricer cars do, what can the advantage to that design possibly be? This has to be a joke, right?

C6W project is pointed in the direction of new research into active and passive safety. This aspect encouraged the interest of many companies in its development.

4 steering front wheels permit to increase braking, comfort and directional stability. Besides, the lightness of the car (less then 1200Kg), due to its essentiality, can give superb driving sensations."

Our cars don't have enough "stability" for street driving? Besides, the lightness of the car (less then 1200Kg), due to its essentiality, can give superb driving sensations." Well if these "sensations" are so great, then why don't the Indy drivers need them??? Sorry, but this is a joke at best, and it will never catch on w/anyone who isn't wearing pants that hang down to the knees, 10 pounds of gold chains around their neck, and a baseball cap worn backwards. And those types won't be able to afford that car anyway (if that's what you want to call that clown vehicle). Okay, RANT OFF.

Got to hand it to the Italians. No doubt an engineering marvel, but I think it just looks goofy. Probably plenty of people to line up to pay big $$$ for one though.

There may be something to the handling aspect. Back in the late 70's or early 80's there was a Formula One car that had 4 front wheels. I don't know why it's not still running. Maybe unfair advantage like Audi being banned from certain race series. I know it was the Elf team that ran it and it was a blue car.
Just my $.02 worth.

Tyrell - they wanted to run FWD in F1 and found out that when you use up the tractive force for the tire patch to drive the car, you don't have enough left to steer! They had to have an EXTRA set of front wheels to STEER with! Junk then - junk now? Who knows?!

Reminds me of Mike Mercury in Supercar!WOW!!! You just took me waaaaaay back in memory land w/that one. That was the very first show that I ever remember watching on TV, and my memory of that is VERY vague. Eveyone I tried to explain that TV episode to in the pasdt didn't have a clue as to what I was talking about when I mentioned "Supercar". That was w/animated puppets like "The Thunderbirds" was, right? I'm thinking that I must have been only three or four years old when that was on TV, because I was six years old when I watched "Speed Racer" and I remember that perfectly. And the only part of "Supercar" that I remember was the very beginning of each episode where the car comes flying up out of the water.

Thanks Donny. For some reason I remember it as being in black & white. But maybe it's just my memory that's black & white. :( Anyway, sorry about the thread hijack guys. But then again, maybe the car that was the original topic wasn't even worth remaining as the main topic here. But I guess I'll let everyone else be the judge of that.

It was in BW.
Gerry Anderson did "Supercar", "Fireball XL5", "Thunderbirds" and a few more along w/"Space 1999".
I have the complete collection on DVD of Supercar & Fireball XL5 (yeah, I'm wierd)!
I believe that all my driving aberations and my sub-concious preference for Mercurys (drifting into Fords & Lincolns) stems directly from a mis-spent youth watching this show!
Next time you're on LI we can have a marathon!

It was the Tyrell F1 team that ran the six wheel car,I think Jackie Stewert amoung others drove it,It ran very well I believe, then was outlawed.
Indy cars only have 4 wheels because of the rules too.
The reason for the 4 wheels was not traction though,it was aero. They wanted to cut the drag of the tires sticking up like they do,so they shortened them to about 14" high, down from about 24".But the little tires didn't have the grip,so,they doubled them up.

LOL  :burn: TOO FUNNY.....I like your excuse, as I often blame my youthful obsession with 'SPEED RACER' for my ongoing adult preoccupation with FAST CARS. Now which button in the steering wheel made the Mach 5 jump???
I could install that in my MM and use it in rush hour traffic!

AAAHHH, some SpeedRacer trivia, uh? I honestly don't know about which button it was. that's a tough one. But here are three trivia questions for anyone to stab at.......
#1. What was the true identity of "Racer-X"???
#2. What was the "Mammoth Car" made out of???
#3. What was the Racer family's pet Monkey's name???
