ok guys, yes I have a Vic, however the marauder air intake setup is very very similar. I picked up 2/10ths at the track with the following mod. Grabbed a used airbox from out of a wrecked Police interceptor. Removed silencer, then the box is square shaped around the middle, and then becomes round towards the bottom. Draw a line around the bottom of the square section. the 2 top mounting tabs will remain on the box, unfortunately the 3rd mounting tab by the headlight will disappear, it doesnt matter, I have not had any problems with mine. Hack off the bottom cutting along the line. Insert K&N drop in filter into new flimsy looking hacked up airbox. clip to airbox lid, (dont bother putting the fender to box retainer bolts back in, as it looks good if you cut it right and you will want to show all your friends. Install, and enjoy the new power (my seat of the pants feel picked up significantly especially torque. much easier to do a burnout from a standing stop), and the viciously louder sound which results. PS I was afraid this might void my warranty lol, so I kept my stock box in the trunk. This really does work. I dont know if this is why I picked up 2 10ths in the quarter, but after I did this my new best was 2 10ths faster, so it must be :D .

One of the benefit of the new Marauder air setup, is that is probably one of the best flowing on any production car from the factory. There has been discussion here about the airbox and thus far nobody has seen any gain over the stock.

I believe there are some K&N filters in use on the Marauder and they have not seen any major difference either (speak up if you did).

I have removed my silencer on the inlet tube (see pictures in the tech picture section). I cannot say it helped with anything. Only seemed better, kind of when you detail out your car in the summer and go cruising. It always feel faster. :D

LincolnMercLover did his mod a little different, but same thing no benefit.

Does the the airbox mod. allow heated air to enter the filter?

There has been several discussions on modifying the airbox but heated air from the egine will only decrease overall perfomance.

I've noticed over on CVN that a lot of guys are putting the Marauder air box and MAF on their Vics and finding an improvement...it may be with the 2V setup it does make a difference, and I've heard from a number of sources that the Marauder intake system is the best-flowing design Ford currently has...personally, I'm gonna wait for Dennis's cold-air package.

When exactly is this COld air package comin' out RF?!

Dennis just announced last week that he was going to begin working on it...as soon as he releases it, I intend to be the first kid on my block with one...

The Marauder airbox and intake system is the freest flowing of any Ford production vehicle, including the Lightning, according to Ford.

There should be no reason to modify the Marauder airbox like that

It was my understanding that Ford said that the intake manifold was the best flowing intake of any of the 4.6 engines. Not the air intake tube/air box assembly. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Even if I'm wrong, just because they say it's the best they make, does not mean it's the best there is.

I believe Logan had a K&N cone filter in place of his air box. He told me it made a noticeable difference. Logan, you out there?

Their statement as I heard it included the whole intake system, including the air box.
The Marauder air box design is fairly different from the regular CV/GM airbox, even though it fits in and fastens the same

HOT AIR FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT = BAD

Kenny Brown has a K&N cold air kit available for the Marauder... I know cause I have one on my car.

Kenny what is a cold air K&N kit? $$?

Racerx88 I believe is right in Ford's statement. It's the intake plaine itself that is the best flowing.

A K&N FIPK is a air tube that reduces friction with smooth bends and no ripples in the tubing. K&N FIPK's also implement their hig flow fliters. This all adds up to more dense air coming into the motor, which make for more power. Match this up with a 90mm Lightening MAF, and you're REALLY flowing air, but be carefull, too much air CAN be a bad thing in a FI motor. Though what I've described wouldn't be an issue, if one was to up the throttle body to a 1100 CFM, then you SHOULD upgrade the fuel pressure regulator, and fuel injectors. In addition, a ignition upgrade can be in order to pull a few extra ponies from the entier set-up. Probably the route I'm going with mine.
