I've been looking at numerous cars as of late to replace my 94 Tbird. I settled on a used silver 04 with 2200 miles on the odometer. I must say it is a very cool ride. I'm used to a larger vehicle and just couldn't downsize from the Tbird. I'm half way through my first tank of gas and it looks like it will get better MPG than my bird. Yea! Since it was a certified used vehicle it came with a Ford 6yr 75k mile warranty so I'm a bit leery for any mods for a while. I live by San Diego and around here 91 octane is all that's available, I was noticing the "chips" required 93 so I may be SOL on that route. Enough for now. This is a great site and it definitely helped me make an informed decision on buying a Marauder.
Thanks.

I purchased my MM from a gent in San Diego and the Alternative Auto chip would not work well due to the gas out there in CA.

Sorry :(

The chip is doing fine here in MN though. Even with the Trilogy S/C.

I've had my Mach 1 for 16 years now and have yet to drive it on a regular basis. It is now ready for finsh paint and I'm hoping for the paint to be done by years end. Its modification list is long: built 351W, Edelbrock aluminum heads, 2.02 valves, roller rockers, shelby valve covers, shelby intake, drag pack engine oil cooler, coated hooker headers, scatter shield, world class T5, Konis all around, 3:50 4 pinion trac-loc, 4 wheel disc brakes, fold down seat, cougar power window, Tbird power drivers seat, installed factory A/C, 1970 22 gal gas tank, reverse eye leaf springs, variable rate front coils, sun slats, rear spoiler, front spoiler, shaker hood scoop, shelby taction bars, shelby rollbar, shelby 140 speedo & 8K tach, 2003 Bullit wheels and tires, and I'm sure there's things I missed. As you can see I'm not against modifing a vehicle...

Hopfully after the paint she'll be pretty enough for pic's... Right now it takes a bit to appreciate all the work under the skin. Soon I hope. I'm also in the process of building a 24x30 workshop so I can bring the Mach 1 home, and clear out my other garage to fit the Marauder inside at night. Yea when that happens.
I'll keep in touch.

69Mach1: Nice to hear from you, I am also in the San Diego area assigned to a ship. Sent you a PM with my work and personal phone numbers. The local MM sightings are rare. -kjs-

Congrats, Jon.
BTW, the 6yr 75k Ford Certified extended warranty is only like Powertraincare, but without towing. You could upgrade that for a little more $$$$ to a Premiumcare (Ford's top of the line warranty) policy and get roadside assistance with also a smaller or no deductible.

Just my .02 and then some.

Congrats on your excellent decision! The Marauder is built for, and will run just fine on 91 octane gas. But I run mine on 93 octane, which is commonly available around the chicago area. It really loves the 93 octane, and it feels more powerful with it. Different brands of premium seem to run better or worse in the Marauder, despite what the Consumer Reports magazine says about all gas being the same. Enjoy your new marauder and this forum.

You are correct, and that is just what I did. I figured for $1100 a bumper to bumper warranty sounded good. Thanks for the heads up.

Best regards,

Jon

Bumper to bumper is a LIE. Ford's Premiumcare covers 500+ components. It will not cover items like headlight buckets.

JonWelcome Jon!

And you are not SOL on a chip, as the fuel table can be set to whatever you prefer. If you were to obtain a two or four position chip from one of our vendors here, you need only add a special request for a 91 octane program, and whatever for the others, for those special occations you do come across better fuel. I actually have one setting for 89...for emergencies when traveling out of state. You will still be able to take advantage of notable gains, and other non fuel related changes such as shift points, t/c lockup times, governer removal....the list goes on!

Interesting .... I also dumped my '04 Thunderbird for a Marauder. I am getting about 22 MPG vs 18 with the T-Bird. The MM is much better on brakes too -- not to mention the brake dust on the front wheels of the bird.
