Well,.. after 20,203 miles I finally had to get new tires all around. The rear tires were smooth as a baby's butt! :P ...and the fronts had some nasty inner wear.

I was hoping to hold out for the Nitto 555's on all four corners, but my wife drives the baby around in the Marauder so I figured I better just put the OEMs back on,.... for now.

I went to my local Discount Tires. They had the fronts,.. but had to order the rears (suprise, suprise) I should have them in a few days.

Lots of guys were asking about it, and giving me compliments. :D

After they replaced and Road Force Balanced the fronts, I decided, since I have to wait a few days for the rears, I'd do a nice smokey burnout for them,.. Cruztaker style... :) :burnout: I powerbraked for about 30-40 seconds. I saw a few of 'em cheering me on,... I let off the brake and left 2 nice, long snake trails...

anyway,... 4 tires, new chrome stems, balanced cost around $730 bucks... not too bad. But,... next time I'll get Nitto's!

Thanks for reading this (mostly) pointless thread!

Nice Petro. New rubber is always good stuff!! The Nitto555 is a REALLY nice tire. I've got them on my aftermarket wheels. They handle great.

Wish you woulda got that 40 second burnout on camera! ;)

sidenote: A guy in '02 Z06 Vette must have asked me a hundred questions. :D Too bad he was already gone when I smoked 'em.

My only concern was the cost....wow!

Well,.. the rears get installed tomorrow, so I figured,.. what the heck! :burnout:

yeah,.. I wasn't too pleased about the price,.. but I need the tires,.. I put off changing them for too long already. Now safety is an issue with the baby in the car.

here's the breakdown:

245/55ZR18 --135.00 a piece
235/50ZR18 --158.99 a piece
tire disposal --2 buck a piece
chrome valve stems --8 bucks
road hazard -- 77.50
lifetime road force balance --52.00
$733.48..... oh yeah ..... taxes.. :mad2: 49.83

grand total $783.31... yeah,.. I could've got a better deal, but not on such short notice.

Discount tire WILL match the tire rack or others price.......since you didn't get the rears yet:

Bring in the tire rack price & they will match it....... :P

Howdy!

My rears have been resembling a baby's butt for about three months now. They both have nails in them and leak down every two days.

I bought a pair of exact replacement rear tires from Tire Rack and they have been sitting in my garage since. Someday I'll get the time to get them mounted.

I've been enjoying the burnouts too much to put the new tires on. After work one evening, a few of the guys were hanging out in the parking lot where I keep my car (away from the rest). They wanted a show, and they got one... After some practice, I was able to get them both smoking for about 150 feet and then again at the 1-2 shift.

I'm concerned about picking a tire shop that will mount the new rubber without ruining my rims... I'll have to seriously begin looking since the weather will soon be slippery.

I'm sure I can find someone to videotape some decent burnouts.... Tom???

Kevin

ps. I saw that silver car! I think it is a Grand Marquis with some HUGE wheels and tires. It has a chrome grille with the Mercury Logo accented somehow...

Oh yeah, I forgot- I only paid $81.00 apiece for the rears!

Next I'll get a pair for the front...
