and bought me ona dem V1s radar detectors.
Man that thing is sweet looking, :2thumbs: hope It works just as well and as soma u claim. Bought it online baby!! those 400 buckaroos sure will hurt the pocket though!! :bop:
What's curious is that I walked into Best buy earlier this
afternoon hoping some salesrep would talk me into buying an Escort 8500 knowing that they're considerably cheaper. Well, when I mentioned to the salesguy that I was debating on which one of the forementioned units to buy, he didn't waist a second, and said "get the valentine 1, the best unit out there by far", aint that some'n.
:bows:
saludos.

If/when I buy mine, I'll be calling Valinetine and asking for a refurbished unit. Brand new basically, $355. Either way, they're the best.

I've written many tickets to Passport owners.

Never written a Val 1 owner....don't believe I've ever pulled one over.

Val 1...there is no substitute :)

This reminds me of the S/C debate. There are now like 17 threads on this.

They rate very close to one another. Independent testers even put the 8500 on top in some tests.

Basically for the extra $150 you are paying for directional arrows. That is the difference between the two. Factually, the two are comparable performance-wise. A higher price tag does not necessarily buy better quality.

A higher price tag does not necessarily buy better quality.

And then again sometimes it does. :D

I agree,.. I love my Escort 8500,... but, I didn't have the extra $150 at the time.

My next detector will be a V1, I'm tired of looking around to find out where that Ka band radar is coming from.

I have had a V1 in my Corvette for years. Its hardwired with the concealed display sitting in the ashtray. Very stealth.

It is pricey, but I find the installation options it provides and the directional arrows are worth the extra cost.

I have owned both an escort and V1. The V1 is the best. There is no comparisson.

my V1 finally came in today. I think I'll have it hard wired in professionaly at the shop where I got my stereo sys. installed. Wiring to me is all chinese. :banghead:
