What's curious is that I walked into Best buy earlier this
afternoon hoping some salesrep would talk me into buying an Escort 8500 knowing that they're considerably cheaper. Well, when I mentioned to the salesguy that I was debating on which one of the forementioned units to buy, he didn't waist a second, and said "get the valentine 1, the best unit out there by far", aint that some'n.

They rate very close to one another. Independent testers even put the 8500 on top in some tests.

Basically for the extra $150 you are paying for directional arrows. That is the difference between the two. Factually, the two are comparable performance-wise. A higher price tag does not necessarily buy better quality.

I agree,.. I love my Escort 8500,... but, I didn't have the extra $150 at the time.

My next detector will be a V1, I'm tired of looking around to find out where that Ka band radar is coming from.

I have had a V1 in my Corvette for years. Its hardwired with the concealed display sitting in the ashtray. Very stealth. :cool:

It is pricey, but I find the installation options it provides and the directional arrows are worth the extra cost.

I have owned both an escort and V1. The V1 is the best. There is no comparisson.

my V1 finally came in today. I think I'll have it hard wired in professionaly at the shop where I got my stereo sys. installed. Wiring to me is all chinese. :banghead:
