Well, jspraldi eat your heart out. Even though we were supposed to have a heads up race at SSHS4 for rights to the Legal Knevil name, I went ahead and purchased the domain name www.legalknevil.com
I am using that site to host my pictures, particularly the build up and release of the Secret Project (no long a secret!). So, I welcome everyone to click the link and let me know what they think. I hope you all enjoy it. There will be many updates when I get back from my weekend here in the ATL.
As some of you know, my car was fired up this week and the process of tuning it has begun. To paraphrase something I heard this week on the TV show Rides, when my car is running, it sounds like war!!! Honestly, the first time I heard it run, I thought the word was coming to an end!!
It clearly will take some time to tune and finish the car, but I am pleased to say that I was able to take a couple of laps of the Team Ford parking lot. I can say this, those Nittos don't stand a chance!! And, this is before the car has been fully tuned. Also, we have yet to spray the motor with the 75 shot that we decided to put in.
My expectations for this car remain very high. This is buttressed by the fact that I have some of the best talent building and tuning my car. In fact, Steve Babcock remarked to me that he couldn't believe the collection of talent that was assembled at Team Ford. I agree.
Little did Steve realize when he said that that I also have the best Project Manager I could have asked for. Thanks Todd! You have been a great Project Manager and an even better friend. I honestly do not believe that I could have accomplished what has been done with my car without your help.
I will post pictures on my new site when I get back to New York. I hope some of the others that took pictures today will share them with you all as well.
Enjoy!!

martyO,
Nothing beats the 'professional' approach!!
Your dedication to an objective reflects that of your chosen profession.
The 'project' will no doubt inspire many to regard their MMs as a platform worthy of investment as well a source of continual driving pleasure.
Perhaps this too will 'help' inspire Ford to re-think Mercury's future direction.

Marty I have to ask,Did all this start because you went to Dallas in 2003 and ran your car down a drag strip for the first time?Got hooked didn't you?
Glad I was there to see the awakening! :D
Awesome car my friend! Cant wait to see it in Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords! Get that thing to the Spring break Shoot out Next winter in FLA.!!!!

Congrats Marty. hope this keeps the MM grin going until you have to S/C the wheel-chair in the old folks home. This project can only give the rest of the MM owners a reason to lay awake at night, dreaming of what their cars can be with the right amount of $$$ and testorerone(apologies to the ladies). Your car along with the other magnificent machines found on this site just adds the rep of the MM. WOE to those who decided against the purchase, they will rue that day in thier lives. :)

Thanks for all the nice comments!
I will be putting up some more pics and posts as things unfold.
Today the folks at Team Ford had a dyno day, so there wasn't much time for them to work on my car, but we did get it out on the street for some more tuning.
I will say this, my blower is making some air! We are contending with issues like too much boost to bleed off at idle. We have solutions for that though and we are working on them.
So, here is the first set of numbers: On a very conservative tune and without turning the motor up past 5,500 rpm (bear in mind that the motor will turn up way past the 5,500 rpm figure), we made 621 rwhp and 619 tq. Wow!!!!
As we tune, we expect that these numbers will go way. The car is scary fast and it is still is in a very, very basic tuning trim mode.
This car is now known as "Hell Boy"

Looks like you switched to a polished S/C and and a different air filter.
It looks like the MAF will be receiving compressed air.

Righht on all counts.
The original blower in the pics was a mock up from Pro Charger that we used for fitment. The polished one you see now is the real deal.
The air filter was switched because the original set up wasn't flowing enough air.
The MAF is indeed a blow through model that is metering the compressed air.

Note to moderators: No need to moderate this thread. I can handle whatever is thrown at me. There will be some folks who will not like what has been done with my car and that is okay with me. They can say what they want, bring it on. I know what we accomplished and there was no one else who ventured this far out.
Let the comments and opinion roll. I will listen to all of them (if I can hear over the growl of my motor!!).

Marty, your car is now scary beautiful. You might want to change the tag to something like MFRAUDER.
This car is truly going to be the fastest MM ever built. What is nice about its owner (and his lovely fiancee) is that he is so humble about the car.
Congratulations on unveiling the s****t p*****t, Marty.

From what the rest of us have FINALY ben able to see, you have a top notch bunch working on the car. I'm sure they will get the traction thing figured out by then. Hopefully you will beat those 9 second SS's. :D
Congrats to Marty, Todd and the rest of the guys at team Ford for what you have accomplished so far.

Slim, that was never my intent.
I did this to have fun with my car and my great friend Todd. I never wanted the money issue to factor in to people's opinions on the project. I had the resources to take on this project and I decided to use them. Sure beats taking the money with me when I "go" for good.
The unexpected part of all this for me is that a lot of great folks got involved. Some with turning wrenches. Some with chasing parts {cough} Donny "The Man" {cough} (even Mac had a hand in this}. Some with ideas. And, the really great but unexpected part, a lot of the friends I have made here who have been cheering me on. Honestly, I want everyone to enjoy the Project. If the fantastic birthday party that I had Friday with my friends was any indication, a lot of people are enjoying the Project.

621/619@5,500 RPM's? Wow!! I can't even imagine of what it must feel like to be in a Marauder that has well over 200 HP more than mine does. And it's gotta make you wonder what it puts out at 1,000 RPM's higher.

BTW Marty, there is no doubt in my mind that you'll be in the 10 second bracket w/this car. It's all a matter of getting it to hook-up. So w/that in mind, have you obtained your NHRA License yet? I also want to point out that even though your car will shred those Nittos on the street, remember that between a lower air pressure that you'll be running at the track w/those, and the traction compound they use there, the drag radials will hook much better than they do on the street. The Nittos are also said to grip better once you do a couple good burnouts w/them. And I've heard some guys w/big heavy cars w/mucho power claim 60' times of as little as 1.3 seconds w/drag radials. So I guess you'll have to experiment a little at the track w/the slicks as well as with the DR's.

Amazing....I wish I could have been there for the party...November 5th seems like a long way off. Site looks great car looks great. I think we're all proud of what you've done here.
The fallout from this may well be that fewer people ask, "What kind of car is that?" and may ask, "Did you see the article about that guy who's got one in the 10's?" That's good for all of us. Thank you for sharing the project and thank you for having it built!

The wife and I have the "if we win the powerball" conversation from time to time, and inevitably I say I will build the baddest MM ever. Well I have been beaten (no powerball win yet). At least now I have something to shoot for!
I am very happy and excited for you Marty, I just want to take a second to share my story with everyone here about the first time I met Marty.
I saw a post on MM.net about a meet in NY and Marty was asking if anyone would show, I posted saying I was interested. Marty posted his cell and I called him up and shared with him that I was nervous about meeting other owners because I was young and maybe in a lower income bracket. Well Marty made me at ease and always made time to talk, even thogh he is a busy guy. We met, had a great time, and I have to say I was very surprised. I think Marty embodies the MM owner experience. To each of us our MM is the baddest, and no matter how big and bad Marty's is I know he will still be the same nice guy to meet up with, and share MM stories with.
I haven't corresponed with him for awhile, but I just wanted to share that and to thank him,
thanks
