The Trip There
Eh. No big deal here. Told marauderman I was going to have to play it cool since another ticket means no MM for me. Thankfully the traffic between Charlotte and Atlanta was... er... brisk.
Last time I came down, it was much later at night. I-285 at 3:30pm is a beautiful, gleaming 6 lane parking lot. Yikes.
The Unveiling
Just to see "LK" was a treat. Amazing workmanship and attention to detail. Incredible. Then they started it. I am pretty sure I wet myself. I am from "Race City USA", home to numerous NASCAR shops and the sound that came from "LK" rivaled some of the testing I've witnessed here.
The Tune
Aric. That poor guy. To be so experienced and talented and have to put up with a total newbie novice like me asking kindergarten questions. Between him, Jason, and Scott, they must laugh and shake their heads when I walk away.
There wasn't much more to get power-wise since my last tune, but what there was to be gotten, Aric got. He also did some magic with the trans programming and I like it a lot better now. Sweet. The whole feel of the drive train is much improved.
I have real control arms now. And a new watts link. I have a complaint about that. Now my front end feels all sloppy! The back end stays nice and planted, lots less roll, and more predictable. But now the front end... tsk.. tsk.
The Folks
I got to meet and and re-meet a lot of people from mm.net. That was real cool. So many to list but I'd forget someone. Had I been able to bring the fam, I'da stayed longer but they called me back home early.
How cool was Steve Babcock? He spent at least 20 minutes with me waiting for my car to come off the lift to sign it for me. Just chatting. He told me that he never saw the MM in anything but black but was very happy once he saw the DTR.
Mrs. Todd and the Todd-ettes. Those girls were bright and lively and really dug what was going on around the place. Very outgoing.
The Trip Home
I drove a different car home than I drove there. The new tune, shifting, and rear end were a joy. Got to zip through some traffic with a Dodge Magnum for about a half-hour. Very sporting.
I was glad to be home. Even though I was only gone a day and a half.
Closing Thoughts
I guess I don't understand why anyone would make an effort to put a damper on things like this. It's fun had at who's expense? No ones, as far as I could see. Lots of laughing and smiling. Sharing. Learning. It irks me that someone felt malicious enough to put forth an effort to curtail such an activity. And then to do it anonymously.
I don't guess those efforts paid off though. Every one got what they wanted, made good friends, and had a good time in spite of a sad attempt to undo it.
I'd like to thank the wrenchs, tuners, everyone from MM.net that I got to meet and spend time with, and especially Todd for putting it all together. Next time I see "LK" run, I'll bring some extra boxers.
