IMO that's a waste of a Corvette.

I think the video screen on the back could be useful. You could have a DVD of you giving the finger, then waving bye bye as you pull into the distance. Course, on our cars it would be more subtle... just rises out of the trunk lid like the monolith on 2001, then retracts once the job is done.

Don't even try to tell me "this is art." I'm not buying that crap.

Maybe...A "primer" in why we do what we do with/to cars, which is to say "because we can?"

Ummm...Oh well. Looks like another Corvette owner is now in recovery from his "love affair" with a plastic slot car. Momma must have found the reciepts in the glove box, which is as bad as finding another woman's panties. Of course, that can't be the case here, this Corvette has no storage for papers, and there's no room inside to "slip out of anything" except the car itself, and perhaps...Reality.

BTW, why 3 DVD screens for a two seater? Oh, yeah the optional hinny mount, and the associated thought that you could entertain everyone in the world behind you. Many Third World leaders have suffered from similar dillusions, and likewise friendship networks...

Cute, but not realistic, or, really entertaining for that matter. It would have been better to make sure there were additional ashtrays on hand, just to know the ashes of what this owner was breathing didn't burn in somewhere...

Y'all wanna bet he had half a dozen "close friends" whispering in his ears "yeah, dude, that's it! Cool! Go for it, everyone will luv ya, and U da man!" along the way?

If not, then there's always Eric Claption's explanation for this kind of absurd behavior..."It's allllright, it's allllright, it's allllright...Cocaine."

And if that doesn't explain this absurdity to us in our search for a reasonable world, there's always the "magnetic pull of the Sun" explanation...

Eh, I think the car isn't as horrid as some of you think. It was intended to be a show car, and it is the nature of such cars that they are extreme and impracticle for everyday use. This car is destined to be a show car, and the new owner only paid $30K for a car claimed to have $150K in mods. I can believe there's $150 K spent, too. Maybe if it wasn't yellow and didn't have the whale tail it would be more palatable.

I think the work on the rear logo, which extends for the video, is especially inspired.

Did I mention that this car was on Meguire's TV program Car Crazy? Also note that the guy who built it runs a cutting edge car stereo installation school and this was more of a "What If" project than something intended to be a daily driver.

What if we all bashed the "concept cars" that have been in the auto industry for decades? We would all be driving the Flinstone's car. For example the slick pop up screen that was (is?) in Mac's and Logan's cars was inspired by guys like this who go out to the cutting edge.

Exactly my point, Marty. Look at this rear facia, - the logo is also functions as tail light assemblies AND extends for the video. This is a lot of work, flawlessly executed, even if it ain't everybody's idea of coolness.

I guess Donny and I can rest easy now though. Thanks.

:puke: I must admit Im open to many things. But thats one of the most disturbing images I've ever seen. And personally; anyone who accepts and approves of that type of mutilation should be shot. I dont even like Corvettes, But to see on tortured like that is just plain sick man! Take that "thing" to the "crusher" & put it out of its misery.Just make sure the "MUTILATOR" is in the drivers seat when its being squashed!!!!

I'm deffinately gonna have nightmares!................... ...........Tim.

More foolish stereotypes about vette owners courtesy of Mac.

I have seen this car in person before and it is a horrible mutilation to say the least. Bad taste and money can be a very frightening combination. Its a shame such effort could not be put into something more productive. I find it suprising that people are actually bidding on it.

Show cars are not intended to be anything other than what their designers or builders want them to be, created for a specific purpose, i.e. win car shows and show off the products, services, or skills of the owner(s). They generally are extreme designs, lots of WOW factor, not meant to be daily drivers. For example, this VW Bug was built by the same guy who did the vette:

http://www.metraonline.com/nGallery/picture.aspx?albumID=2&pictureID=20&width=500&height=500&maintainRatio=true&forPictureDetails=true (http://www.metraonline.com/nGallery/picture.aspx?albumID=2&pictureID=20)

And he did this Mustang:

Is it just me, or is there no steering wheel? Perhaps you use a PS2 controller, instead :arcade:

I can appreciate the amount of effort involved in the Corvette, just not the end result :puke:

I must admit that I just don't get the; " Let's pull the steering wheel and all other car functions and put in $100,000 worth of stereo/video equipment" mentality. Why not save lots of time and money and bolt a set of wheels and exhaust to your living room with the killer entertainment center?? I don't care if the Vette is 'just for shows' it looks like a video game in an arcade!!! :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:

Even a show car SHOULD be able to drive off the truck, and into a parking spot. If you've gotta push it, you might as well shove it!

I could see something like that in black, maybe shaped like a bat, for the Marauder.
