Well I wasn't expecting 13s but the best I could muster today was a 15.583. This was my first time ever racing at a drag strip. I was quite pleased with my reaction times .387 .284 .219 and .171. 1/4 miles were 15.988, 15.689, 15.603, and 15.583, At least my times were consistent. The one car I beat was a ricer :). The best time I had was against a 10 second car, it was turning around before I finished the quarter. Well, the good news is once I'm finished installing the S/C even 13s will feel fast.

Sorry my friend but a 15.5x will not get you the tittle of slowest MM.:D

Was your fastest run the last one ? How many miles on your car ?

Well almost

The last run I tried to manually shift so it was my slowest the next to last was my fastest run and best reaction time. 6,800 miles.

First time, eh? You're hooked now. A few questions enter my mind, aside from Smokies. 1) How were you launching the car? 1800-2000 rpm seems to work best for me. 2) Any extra weight? You know, full gas tank, trunk load of tools (sorry Smokie). 3) How much air did you have in the rear tires? I was surprised by how much this matters. Better times will come. Good rt's.

About the manual shifting...same here: no good.

I believe you have faster times ahead, as you improve your launch and your car fully matures (about 10k), it may sound silly but make sure you don't back off the throttle near the end of the run, some folks here have done that...kills your trap speed.:D

I'll testify to that. :D I made my first ever runs last Saturday at Mason-Dixon. My best time was a 15.557@ 81.75 mph on my 2nd pass. I came off the accelerator way before the 1/4 mile panel on my first two runs. I figure that run would have been closer to 15.329 @ ~93 MPH with 3/4 gas tank and regular air pressures if I kept on the gas to the marker. It really helps to know where the 1/4 mile panels are if you are not familiar with the track.

I can also testify to the importance of turning off your cell phone. It can really affect your r/t. Put me at a 1.127 last year at the shootout! :P

That is not the worst run. When I was in Indy my chip went bad and I ran a 16 second quarter. The chip zapped all my performance out of the car and it was putting out worst numbers than stock. That changed with a new chip.

Steven, I thought you just supercharged your car?
BTW, the first run I ever made in my was 14.88 with a full tank, tires regular air pressure, no manual shifting.

If you say you can't because you don't own a scanner, you are done with us here. Don't ever show your lying azz here again, K?

I knew someone would step up and question my ineptitude, yes I have a scanner - not hooked up - but you will all have to wait for proof of my unworthy timeslip.

I have a supercharger but just like my scanner its not installed.

yes I went the full length, the final trap speeds were all in the 91.xxx's

That's good for almost .2 second. How about the A/C?

yes, yes, and TC off too, not much in the trunk- mini spare only.

Doesn't really bother me just surprised me, no wonder the magazines didn't like the car. By the way it still seamed pretty quick to me, but obviously I had nothing to compare it to.

Running the A/C is a big nono and will get you booted from teh track. :depress:

The condensation can leave water where a slcik guy will hit resulting in him wipping out.
