MM.Net Screensaver is ready...Beta 1.0....

Ok people...here we go. Its been a haul....!

1st off: Thanks to a gent named Troy Sours from Virginia for the help!!!!



I received everyones pictures and used most of 'em.

I have "about" 100 pics....and have added them to the screensaver.

The file size is 58mb or so.

Sorry if its "FiveO" and "SSHS4" heavy...but thats the way a 1.0 Beta goes :)

Marty has agreed to host it...but I I thought the file size was going to be much smaller.......and its not.

Either way its ready.

Here is what I want to do:

I have decided that I will send out, at least initially, 7 copies of V 1.0, 2 are already spoken for and 5 are up for grabs....this is not a monthly thing....once all 7 have received their copy on CD and posted their impressions.....I'll release it to Marty to host it...if he still will at this file size...

I'm hoping it will be available in a week or two at most.

I will burn 7 total CD's:

The first 5 people to PM me their NAME and ADDRESS will get the Beta 1.0 CD's.


PLEASE READ:

1. This is a BETA release....this is a work in progress and can and will be changed in the future. If you see double pics or want more pics added please email me at mghlady@charter.net

2. You HAVE to post your initial thouhts on the screensaver in this thread...this is a prerequisite to your receiving a BETA CD. I don't care if its good or bad...gimme your thoughts. I can take the criticism.

3. Listen to suggestions:

A. Install....right click desktop...properties...screens aver..."Maruader 2004", settings....(etc).

B. In the screensaver adjustments...check the tabs...you can delete any pics you don't want shown on the s/c.

C. CHECK THE BOX which adds DISPLAY IMAGES IN RANDOM ORDER... I put this as a suggestion.....but I added images in order and an out of order view is probably best.

D. THERE ARE TIMES OF BLACKOUTS...and I cannot figure it out....let me know if you get times of blackouts for certain seconds......working on it!!!



I'm running this s/c right now and I love it. Hoping you all will too. I'll run a new version every few months IF I get new pics......people stopped sending them to me...!

Soo.....this is V1.0.

Here we go.... V1.0 has been installed on my 2nd computer and is running great...who wants to try it out?


PS: No Viruses...No ads...just a simple screensaver made up of pics from MM.net members...what could be better.

Just to let people know...I'm only doing this to test he waters and make sure people will enjoy it. I also don't want to flood the market with something that won't work (unlikely) or isn't palatable to MM.net members....It won't take long to get it to all members....promise.

Also...updated versions are going to be close behind...months apart depending on the number of photos I receive!

I'd love to have beta-2 as well as I have built an avatar to Marauders in my entertainment center, (big-screen, surroud sound, ect... you get the idea) that would LOVE to play the beta-2 screen-saver!

Whatever the cost... let me know... PLEASE! :)

Just run the .exe and then right click on the desktop, choose it and you can change many settings.

Recommended:

Random order...
Enlarge images to fit screen...
Edge fade... (really cool effect!)


Remember...this is V1.0. If everyone likes it I will add more pics. I can even caption them if we'd like.

Sounds cool. Of the topic, Clay bar works really good on cleaning burnt rubber/water spots/dirt/grime/other asst. foreign material from the painted surfaces of your MM. :D

Mines clean as a whistle...what would give you the idea that there is any dirt/rubber or other foreign material on my Marauder ;) :D

Works great Mark! I loaded it in my pc that's running XP and in my laptop that's using Windows Millennium, worked flawlessly in both machines. I wish I had the opportunity to meet everyone responsible for the pictures. I'm sure there is a story behind each one. I would like to publicly thank Mark for putting forth the effort to compile the pictures and send out the CD's.

In return, I have just installed the SS on my laptop, and I will now forward the disk to you. I'll mail it tomorrow.

And thank you (5-0)Mark as well. You did good. I like the arrangement, and the selection of pics.
As far as the critic part....
All I can suggest is that some of the pics might be removed, ie. lower resolution ones and ones with inperfects. There is also a spot where a shot is duplicated back to back, or atleast it appears that way. Perhaps moving the arrange selections around a little will mix it up better.

Last, and this one would require some effort, would be to use a paintshop or whatever to insert text indicating some explaination of each pic. Not neccesarily the members name, but the location or setting of the pic. I realize that can be alot of work, but printshop does it quickly, and once you get a text and size you like, it's more of a cut and paste with new letters and resaving everything.

Otherwise, Beta-1 is a hit.

Com'on people, send more of your bestest hi-res pictures for beta-2.

I don't need paintshop to caption each of the pics at all...its built right into the program.

This is a work in progress though... I'll see what I can do about having some captions in Version 2. Each user can turn the captions off/on too...if they want.


The reason for the back to back is probably because its in "random". There is a small %chance you'll get the same pic 2x in a row.

Thank you again for all your efforts. I loaded it and am running it.
Very pleased. Nice amount of shots but theres never enough pictures of marauders. I would like more burnout pictures though, but thats just a personal request. I would say beta 1.0 is a huge hit that will be loved by everyone should you release it to the public.

It would make the flow a little smoother. That's a nice little screensaver program you got there!

Just noticed that I can have control over the imaging. NEAT! Change the duration of the shots, shrink and enlarge images to fit the screen, turn images on and off.

If the size of the final file is a concern, while I know it takes some time and effort, resize the photos to a maximum of 1024x768. 58 MB will take a little while to download on the slower connections.

Now I need to send you some photos: MVI, Hershey & Cleveland Meets, MVII. Looking forward to the next version!!

By the way, if you want, you can make your own screen saver by using Windows XP. its right there in the selectiuon of teh various screen savers as a slide show. Just point it to a file of Marauder photos.

Couple great ideas there....maybe I will have the time in the near future to do that. I'll consider it.....just got alot going on with my Masters Thesis and 1 more class starting soon. Last one though!!!

Version 2 will be much better. I'll add captions and resize along with putting ALOT more pics in.
