Wild elephants are raiding villages in northeast India, smashing homes and stealing people's supplies of homemade beer.
"Rice beer is an attraction. Workers in tea planations in Assam make rice beer at home and store it in drums.
"'There are many instances of wild elephants guzzling the brew and returning for more,' [Assam state forest minister Pradyut] Bordoloi said."
It is reported that outraged property holders are lighting firecrackers and throwing them at the marauding pachyderms.
