Is synthetic oil man made? Or does part of it come from underground/ocean and it's formed into synthetic. I'm intrigued by the whole idea. Maybe synthetic oil in a man-made sense could be used instead of oil and hydrogen for the future?

So is it possible or am I inventing something?

Where's RF . :D Synthetic is man made. Mobil 1 and Royal Purple are two popular brands.

James, they even had synthetic tires during WWII. In many cases synthetics are better than the natural (organic) materials they replace. Take silk vs nylon stockings for instance, but as with most things in a free economy, it's price that drives the market. If it were not for the expense and infrastructure issues, I'm sure we'd be driving Hydrogen powered cars, by now.:)

I once dated a woman who promised me a lot of things, if only I would buy her a pair of silk nylons. It was our first, and last date.
