Well, My insurance is going up with the MM, how high? I don't know.

The guy told me that I am going from a Symbol 8, for a 02 CVPI, to a Symbol 18 for the MM!!! He told me "Oh yeah, a 2004 Grand Marquis."

I'm afraid to know how much thats gonna cost me. I'm with Texas Farm Bureau, which is supposed to be one of the better insurance companies. I was with Allstate for many years (crappy claims service but low rates), Prgoressive (good claims but high rates), and now Texas Farm bureau.

I guess I'm gonna hold my breath and see what the result is. Hopefully the insurance payment won't be higher than the car note

IMHO...In this case, being a GM is a blessing. Saftey record is high and collision experience low. Right now it's a good thing not to be a Marauderer?

I'm with Progressive for insurance. I switched from a 99 Crown Vic LX to my Marauder, and my insurance only went up like 80$ a year. I didn't think that was too bad for the switch.

Mrs. Agent is a captive of the Insurance Barons and when we added my MM on it wasn't bad at all. We have multi-account discounts and all but it still would not have been too bad without.

She did note, however, that when it came up "Marauder" that there was a warning in the system cautioning that power adders would void the policy.

What's that mean? Power adder?

Wes-

C'mon man. I'm a benefits guy and I know auto insurance well cause I'm a cheap ass. call me. I'll get you the hook up as long as your driving record isn't as long as my arm.

My Rauder, the wifes Navi, and my sweeat azz Buick cost me less than $1500 a year in Houston for full coverage on all. (I'm in Montgomery County tho, so that's some of it).

Trust me, I can help you cut your rates, big time.

My insurance Co.,Nationwide, noted the engine code in the VIN and adjusted my prem.up because of it,over a GM.

When I traded in my (snooze) 99 Mazda 626LXV6 for the new MM, my auto insurance premium went down $5 per 6 months. They know it's an MM not a GM. I was happy with that. I've had Allstate for 25 years with pretty good rates and with good claim service.

I ahve State Farm, with a reasonably good driving record. Traded up from a 2001 Crown Vic LX to 2003 MM, insurance went up less than ten bucks a month. Not bad in my book for a newer model year with more horses.

When I traded my 98 Lincoln Towncar that I put 90K miles on for my new 03 MM last year my insurance went down $40 every six months. I even made sure the agent was clear that it was a Marauder not a Marquis. I have Allstate.

My insurance actually went down about $30 every 6 months (Progressive) when I replaced my 2002 Grand Marquis with the Marauder. I asked why and they said it had more airbags and a "newer, safer design."

I pay less than $500/6 mo for two cars and two drivers with Progressive, whom I have heard are very competitive with rates.

Until you make a claim that is, so don't ever claim anything.

I would guess any insurance co. will tear you a new one for a claim. You pay to have insurance, but then you pay more to use it. Gotta love that racket.

Ok, not. :bs:

Mine went up about $90.00 p/year with Kentucky Farm Bureau. Went from a 2001 GM LSE to a 04 DTR. Has anyone checked on the anti-theft discount? Can save about 5 - 10% pending on your Insurance Company. I got it!

Insurance costs are a State determined cost. Although some companies like State Farm subsidize high claim cost States with revenue from low claim cost States. Regardless, the price of a policy does vary according to many factors some of which are: cost to repair, other policies with the same company, where you live, kind of car, how the car is used and who drives the car. A trip to your agent may be beneficial to see what factors are applied to your case. You may be paying for something that no longer applies, such a teen drivers or business use.

My MM in NW Louisiana is $92 per month with a 25-50-25 liablity and 250 deductable for collision, among other things, like uninsured motorist and medical.

Mine went from 300 something a year to 800 something a year. This was going from a paid-for liability-only 93 Nissan pickup to full coverage on an 03 MM. Not too bad considering the difference in vehicle value.

I switched to Progressive when I bought my MM because my old insurance was quoting too high. Progressive's rates were lower than the old insurance company on my Taurus, and with a lower deductible.

I recently added to my Progressive policy coverage for "additional equipment" which covers performance, appearance, and electronic equipment, up to $5,000 in value (parts only), as long as I have receipts to prove they were purchased and installed on the car. the first $1,000 is in comprehensive/collision, the remainder $4,000 is additional. It added about $15 a month to the payment.

Take all the rate quotes on this thread with a grain of salt. Everyone has different levels of coverage.

Except for my motorcycle, progressive has always had some of the highest rates I have seen.

Others like nationwide, or statefarm seem reasonable until you need to make a claim...then they can be sob's.

If your driving record is clean for the last 3 years, I think Geico has the best rates.

I extended my coverage beyond what I have had in the past and paid less. With $250 deductibles.

My rate is 510ish every 6 months. A quote is available online, and you can play with the coverages to see how the rate will change.

Check out your insurance statement. It should have the symbol on there somewhere. It is a grading system which weighs things like theft rate, performance engine, repair costs, etc. The higher symbol, the higher the insurance. The symbol generally changes with time, so next year it may drop from an 18 to a 14.
