Gentleman:

I am encountering regular CDDJ errors when I attempt to load a disk in the trunk mounted player. Will cold outside temps (<25 degrees) cause the unit to not play? I have never had a disk changer, actually I did not even realize it was there until several days after receiving the car. So much for dealer explaination of features. The car was a demo, with 2100 miles on it. I could'nt resist the 26,500 offer. They completed the deal in 1.5 hours and shuffled me out with good-lucks and a full tank of gas. Heck, I am missing half the brochures that were in the manual.

PS. This forum is extremely helpfull. Thanks to all originaters.

I'd take it in for warranty. Thats supposed to work even in the cold.

I have had the only error twice, both times when it was really cold and I tried to quickly switch from one cd to another in the changer. Since then I just dont try to switch cds in back until the car has run a little bit. (about the time it takes for the heater to kick in) But if your having regular problems I'd take it to the dealer.

I think that the changer reacts to the cold. My wife has a VCR in her Quest van and it dosen't work in extreme cold. I would think that the same applys to the trunk mounted CD player. John

Yep, it's the temperature. Even my Lexus states in the owners manual to take disc cartridge inside when temps. get below zero. Pull the cartridge out of the trunk, take inside on cold nights, or at least put in front seat until car warms up.
