anyone ever have the following problem w/their PC????......

My cursor keeps clicking on things by itself. Especially when I'm right in the middle of typing a post. I'll be typing out a sentence, and right in the middle of it I'll hear a click and even though the cursor line is still right on where I'm typing, the characters simply stop going up on the screen as I'm typing. And I'll have to take the mouse and left click on the cursor again in order to continue typing. otyerwise the characters will no longer continue to be put up on the screen. This is happenning about once every 30 seconds and it's driving me nuts!!! (I know, I know, "it's a short drive" you say, right?).

Anyway, this has happened to my PC in the past, and it just stopped doing that somehow. What can I do to correct this?

Spybot search & destroy( lookin for link)
I have Adaware 6 and I've ran it yesterday, and that hasn't solved it. When i hear the click, sometimes I can also see the hourglass icon appear in place of the cursor for a split second. :mad2:

Hey Billy-check for a program called "autoplay" and if you find it, disable it.

I was hoping it would be that easy, but I've already tried running disc clean-up to do that, and it hasn't changed anything. The Ad-aware 6 also cleans out the cookies too, but that didn't stop this either.

You can find this by clickin on start then run then type in -msconfig-then look under startup and see if autoplay is there. you can also stop other programs that you don't running on startup by clearing the box next to it..Well thats all i can think of.. good luck

Run a virus scan. For 2 months mine was doing an IRQ Physical Memory Dump which would require a power down.

Although I have Norton and Update regularly I had a jokeidiot and atrojandoppler viruses. Hopefully they were the cause.

Yeah Patrick, I've been using ZoneAlarm for a firewall for the past year now - really works great!

I have the Zonealarm firewall too, and I also like it. the onlt thing that i don't like about it is that it takes a good 60 seconds to load every time I start up my PC, and it will not letme do anything even off-line until it loads. but I guess 60 seconds isn't so bad, which is why I put up with it.

hey, wait a minute.....I think the problem is cured already. I actually have ad-aware SE version, and I haven't done any updates to it for a couple weeks now. I've only used it offline. So I just used it while I was online, and sure enough it stated that there's an update, so I installed the update and ran a full scan again, and it appears to have corrected the problem since I've been able to type out this post w/out interruptions like Before. Thanks again people!!! And thanks for that explanation about how to find "Autoplay" Mark. because I didn't know that. I didn't see any "autoplay" in there, but I did see a whole bunch of things that I had no idea what they were, so I just left it alone.

LOL...actually I was only kidding, but it's cool to know that you're using a Marauder as a Limo. I happen to like that idea myself. :banana2:

Ad-Aware 6 is outdated.

Update to Ad-Aware SE at www.download.com

Its still free....just do a search.

Make sure Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy are up to date and you should be fine.

Good luck!
