I want to stir interest up for a group buy for these trunk Lid Liners.
The carpet will be similar to the stuff in the trunk currently, the design will either be "MARAUDER" Embossed into the Cover, or a God's Head, or both, or blank,
Custom artwork and embroidery is also available on a custom basis, but for now, we'll say its for interest, if you are interested in a Trunk Lid Liner, or not...
Thanks all!

By God it is Arial Italic..hehe, thanks for the heads up..that will make it easy. Pricing is still being worked out but a group price should be between $119 and $135.00...it is higher cuz the decklid cover uses almost a whole sheet of wood ...did I mention that the decklid is Huuuge!

How will they be mounted on the trunk lid???:dunno: Typically my decklid covers mount with 1/4 plastic tabs as Wes suggested. However, I can easily adapt these to accomodate high-strength Velcro...I will still have the backboard drilled for the tabs so you can punch through the carpet if you if decide that the Velcro isn't cutting it. You will have the mounting option available to you at order time.

It will make an excellent addition to the car. I don't know if Mercury was saving paint or what.... but a lot of areas on the car just didn't get painted. Behind the headlights..... under the hood..... etc. This liner will add a nice touch!

Hi Decklid Designs,
I don't own a MM, but I do like the fact that you are willing to design and create something that should have been part of the car in the first place. I'm a stickler for detail and maybe you could you use this as a basis for the lettering? Let me know and could swap info an I might be able to send you something you could use.

After thinking about this, I've got a special request:
The thread (above) talks about attaching this with Velcro. Because of heat, age, temperature changes and so forth, I'd like to see a version that locks the lid liner in place with those plastic push-in pins (like the hood liner uses). There are more than enough holes into which to insert them, and I don't mind drilling an extra one for a strategic location. But I sure don't want to try cleaning expired Velcro adhesive off in a year or two and then trying to reattach the liner in a different way. Plus, when the trunk's closed, gravity will tend to pull it down, so the clips would resist that better. If the kit has predrilled holes and a handful of clips, I'd be real happy.
To me, this is more important than monogramming. As to monogramming, I'd prefer a simple "Marauder" (like the rear bumper sports) than anything complicated.

So far what Sully has in mind is MY favorite. While the other designs are nice ... IMHO this is the only one that most closely resembles the slant of the OEM font the best - which I really like.

Is the problem with the entire concept of a trunk deck liner, the embroidery or both?

I appreciate all of the suggestions and ideas, I really need to stick with no more than 3 logo ideas for the GP. Please decide which 3 it should be so i can set everything up for production. I recommend the gods head over the marauder, the marauder to the left of the gods head, and the marauder with the flag. If someone wants the gods head over the marauder with flag as in the last several posts, I might have to charge a little extra to cover the digitizing and extra embroidery costs.
Also, I am shipping the first prototype to Wes for installation tests...he should have pics by early next week, if all goes well then the GP is on.

Perhaps now that a few prototypes are out there, do a poll regarding one single common one that everyone can buy, with the option for folks do do custom ones at a greater cost.
I like this last one you all came up with, and may decide to just go that route rather than custom.

Has there been a decision on the 3 designs? I vote for these:
"MARAUDER" with checkered flag the length of MARAUDER
"MARAUDER" with checkered flag over the "R"
"MARAUDER" with Gods Head centered above and checkered flag over the "R"
Would also like the choice of color for "MARAUDER". The checkered flag and Gods Head stay silver.

These are made with high-density hardboard...with hundreds of units shipped and not one returned to defective materials or workmanship, you have nothing to worry about. These are VERY light and WILL NOT be an issue being mounted on the Marauder decklid.

Gordon,
From what I've seen on the ones done for the Cobras... it looks very similar to the form fitted panels that grace the sides of the trunks etc. The ones done for the Cobras were not "flat" by any means but rather followed the contours of the trunk as required. Any discussion about carpeting being glued to back boards etc. are refering to another product not this one.

If one would have a possible use for some on another project?

I'd remove the "normal" option. Its a throw back to when there were browsers that did not support SSL. They ALL do nowadays. Its going to cause confusion more than anything else.

Wes,
OK, we now know about the red and the maroon. Pls describe or show us a picture of the BLUE that you have -- is it a Bright Blue, Neon Blue or what?
I am thinking that a Silver godshead with Maroon lettering would like very nice. Now, I just need to understand what you have in the way of Blue.
Thanks,

I just wanted to update everyone on the Trunk Lid Liners. Scott is working as fast as he can for the Liners, and due to the unexpected response from the board, he is hubbed up pretty good at this point. Scott is working as fast and as hard as he can to get the liners made, and shipped out, without sacrificing quality and fit/finish of the liners.
If you have any further questions, let me know and I will do my best to look into it.
Thanks for your patience.

Wes, thanks for the update as I was going to email you tomorrow.
It's been nearly two months since I paid for the trunk liner--which is not acceptable in my book. Still don't have an ETA on our orders other than the generic--we're working on filling the orders. I won't pay in full next time regardless of how much I save or how much I want the product.
Suggest that next time you do a project like this that you bill us one-half up front and one-half when the product ships. Since the time line has expired for me to get my credit card company involved if the product is not delivered as promised. Don't like the idea that if you succumb to the "hit by a Mack truck" syndrome I have no recourse. This is nothing personal, this is just good business. Thanks again for doing this project.

I wish I could do the "bill you half now and bill you half later", but most of the time, any time you purchase a product, especially in large groups, the supplier wants payment in full for the product. Being a small business, I cannot fork out the cash to perform a group purchase of this magnitude. I also understand your concerns of "being hit by a mack truck" feeling. And in this case, you do have recourse. I am a sponsoring vendor on this site, and this is a public forum. If you're not satisfied, I will refund your money, and we go our seprate ways. I'm not someone who is going to hide, duck and dodge you if you are not satisfied with the product. I cannot afford to do that. Most of the Vendors here cannot do that. We strive on providing the best customer service we can provide, and rely on having a good reputation to continue earning your business. In this case, I was the person brokering the deal, and Decklid Designs is the supplier. Scott has been working tirelessly trying to get orders completed, and is pushing his embroider to get the liners out as fast as possible.
Any additional concerns, contact me direct via email or pm. Your satisfaction is important to me.

Thanks Wes for beating me to this...yes, it is true...I am working as fast as I can to get these done and shipped...but seveal unexpected delays have pushed things back a bit. I hope to have abunch out tomorrow...I know many of you have been getting your lids in and I want to assure everyone that they WILL get a product and will love it. I am still doing these by myself and am somewhat at the mercy of the embroiderer and their backlog. As you have seen these logo's are huge...bigger than most anything they have ever embroidered. It takes down a 6-head machine just to run 2 of them...so they have top schedule around that.
I have never missed a shipment or had one returned to bad workmanship...unfortunatly it does take 2-3 weeks just for a simple lid...
I sincerely apologize for the delay...if you have a question or conceren, please email me directly at scottn@deckliddesigns.com

Scott first sent my liner to me back in the middle of March.
DHL, as good as they are at delivering things, aren't the best
at delivering them in one piece.
I received one of the very few that were damaged.
Working with Scott and Wes, we got DHL to accept a claim,
and I sent he damaged liner back to Scott for replacement.
I received the replacement liner yesterday and I installed it today
with the help of my 8 year old son, Jonathan.

To Scott's credit, I sent him an email with pictures and he's making me another one. Make sure either you ar Scott put in a CLAIM to DHL.
I had called DHL because I was here when the driver dropped it off
and the side of my box was crushed and the liner broken like yours.
When I got the replacement, the box had sneaker prints all over it,
but the liner wasn't damaged at all.
It makes you wonder, what the guys at the DHL transfer stations
are doing with all of our packages ?
