New Member here. Next week, I will drive a couple hundred miles to check out a used 04 sitting at a dealer. Talked on phone with them today and they have the car listed at $22,999. Maroon with a factory moonroof (2MH...) Only 11,000 miles off lease (one year lease????) and I only buy cars that are off lease. Dealer only sells used 1, 2 and 3 year old Ford Products.
1. Sounds like a great price compared to the one I looked at a couple months ago at $27,000, but you guys are the experts, so, is it a good price?
2. When I go an look at it, what should I look for. I.E. any of the "quirks" of the car. I understand Marauders have a "Hard" shift, but other than that, what else should I look for?
3. In looking at thread from the past couple weeks, I find this is a great site. Now know the difference between a 300A and 300B, not that it makes any difference, but nice to know anyway.

1. The price sounds good to me.
2. Check it out with a fine tooth comb. If you find anything wrong , get it in writing.
3. All 2004 Marauders are 300 A's
Good luck.

I thought all 2004's were 300b'sNope. No change in options in 2004 so no need to classify a second group, like in 2003. The confusion is the 2003 300Bs have the most similar options to the 2004 300As.

One more question. My 02 Continental has headlights that come on automaticly when it gets dark or when I put on the windshield wipers, then go off automaticly. My other car does not do this, and I kept on forgetting to switch headlights off after putting them on in the rain, so I converted my other car to have DRL (Daytime Running Lights) to be like the Canadian cars. I purchased a module that I plugged into the fuse panel, and voila, DRL.
Question is: Can I purchase somekind of module for the Marauder to convert it to DRL? (this is assuming that the lights do not come on like my Continental). If yes, what is the part number. (Hey, I'm asking a lot of questions and I don't even have a Marauder,,,,,,,,, yet).

Welcome to the site, There is a automatic option for your lights, so you don't need to worry about buying the converter. Save up your money for some other Mods.

Welcome aboard. I answer questions about the MM and I don't have one, either.
BTW, is this MM for sale in Lantana? Here's a pic:

The MM has the feature where the lights come on with the windshield wipers. You can, however, get the Daytime Running Lights module. $67.72 is list price. Part# is xw7z-15a272-ab
I always run with the parking lights on in the daylight. Old habit.

Roy,
Yes, it is the one in Lantana, about 3 to 3½ hours south of me (Mount Dora).
Also thanks for the info on the lights going on automaticly with the wipers. Thats all I need.
Hope to go to Lantana this week to check it out. Went to my buddy who works at the local Ford dealer, and he ran a check in "Orbits" for me, which shows nothing. Monday morning, I'll go visit my bank to see what they say about a loan. Then either monday afternoon or tuesday, I will make a run down there to see what kind of deal I can do with my trade. If it works out, I will return a day or two later to pick up. If it don't work out, well I will have made a nice trip down there, and I'll just stop off in Boynton to visit friends.
Getting great information on this site.
Question. (Nothing to do with cars). How do I add or change my profile on this site? (Town lived in, Cars, etc.) Looked for profile to click on, but can't find it.

go to quick links and click edit profile.
BTW, look at the pic. For some reason the left tailight on it has a black strip plus the left rear exhaust tip is bent.

I talked to Kevin up there (he has a black MM but has no time to be part of our group). He said that they put on 2 rear tires (it took 3 days to do- go figure) and replaced the taillight (wrong color- in the paint shop when I stopped by today). Give him a call to make sure it came back. Tell him Brian from Maroone sent you.

I knew it must be too good to be true. Why in the world would any dealer putting up a nice car like this, not paint the strip under the left tailight and replace the left exaust pipe? Also, why would they replace the rear tires at this low milage? Did Keven say it had been in an accident??
Now I'm not so hot for the car, at least not like I was earlier. Find out anything you can from Keven and post here. If I drive down there and take a look, I will be taking a good look, looking for damage, or anything that was fixed. If it was fixed, it was not done at a Ford/Lincoln/Mercury garage as nothing shows up on Orbit.

The tire and light replacement + repaint was all that Kevin said about it. I would look underneath it to see if there was a rear impact.

I agree with you. Something is unsettling about this MM. IMHO.
Shopping around may be of best interest.

I may still go down and check it out as it is only a little over three hours from me.
New Subject:
Does anyone know anything about "Krug Hilltop Ford Lincoln/Mercury"
Howell, MI? I see that he has both a used Blue 03 and also a New 04. Thinking that I may contact them to see what they have to get for the new 04. Anyone have any ideas what I should pay for a new Maroon 04 with moonroof? the MSRP is $36660. but I don't know what rebates there are out there, plus if there are any dealer discounts. They are "only" 964 miles from me but I would not look forward to driving in snow again, having lived in Florida for the past ten years. (Yes I do carry a snow brush though). Also, just where the heck is Howell MI?

I could check the car out for you when it comes back. BTW Howell, MI is between Lansing and Detroit. As for mileage, do a mapquest, it will be more accurate.

When I backed into a landscape feature placed too close to the pavement it pushed my left tip in a couple of inches. I had to have the rear left exhaust pipe replaced and the old tip welded on. Cost me $$$ for my stupid mistake!

For now, I'm going to pass on this one. I may get down to Lantana to visit friends in Boynton, and I will check it out at that time, if they still have it, but I'm not going to make a special trip down there.
I'm going to continue to check out various cars on the net. I'm mostly looking within Florida, and from a Ford/L-M dealer because after looking at my cash on hand, I see I will have to take a loan from Ford Credit. Their rates are better than my bank. :(

Get with the site Admin Logan, he seems to have an inside track on Cheap MMs. I'll get with RoyLPita and maybe we'll both check out this one for you and anyone else interested.

Would not blame you if you looked elsewhere as the issues now raised based on the photo would have me looking elsewhere. I was looking for Marauder wheels for our CV on Ebay earlier today and saw a Silver 04 Maruader in Tennessee that is totally stock with 5500 miles for sale. Go to Ebay and type in "Mercury Marauder" and you will find it there. If I was financially able, would pursue it myself, as one simply cannot have enough Marauders!:D

Don't even waste your time with this one.

I just got off the phone with the same person who I have dealt with for the 3rd time in 2 days (not Kevin). This time I asked "How long does it take to paint a piece of taillight trim?" and the answer that I got was "I don't know and it is not my concern". For that, they are not worth buying from even if they had all of the used MMs in the world.
On a lighter note, If and when you decide to visit in Boynton, PM me or SouLRioT, we would like to meet another fellow member.
As always, just my .02 and then some.
