I had to re install MS office on my laptop, but in the move, I don't have a clue where I put the Key Code to enter to make it run. I heard that any key code from the same product will work? It is "Microsoft Office Standard Edition 2003 - Student and Teacher Edition 2003" and needs the 25 character product key that I managed to loose in a month! If you can help me out, email or PM me, thanks in advance. A lot of my planning notes and information for MVIII are on my laptop, so this is important! Thanks....

Dave,

Unfortunately, MS locks the key code onto your own computer. If you use another Key Code, then the user originally installing it will find their product deactivated as soon as you have gone on the net and then they do (or it'll deactivate your product as if it was stolen). It all happens behind the scenes, and the only way to unlock it around this is have a master key that large corporations use to license their whole site.

When I did this, I activated it and got a new code on the screen with a dial up info splash screen. I called the number and read them the code, and got a new activation code over the phone. Easy as pie (but a long wait time).

That's what I'd do. MS sees this stuff all the time. Life happens.

Mark
