Hey all!
I need some info. I need new front brakes for my 2003 Marauder (300A). I tend to drive fast and brake hard so I'm not surprised. The Dealer tells me my options for pads are either OEM, Motorcraft or Police Pads. The dealer didn't seem to know what the difference was between the OEM and Police Pads. Can anyone out there tell me the difference?

I thought we all had police brakes as OEM equipment.... You may want to consider an aftermarket brake system. I usually kill a set of brakes on the CVPI in about 20K miles.

First off, Welcome aboard. As for brake pads, OEM are semi metallic. Motorcraft are the cheaper replacement kind. You could go with police pads but they have more metal in them that can wear away the brake rotor.

Just my .02 and then some.

Hotwheels - Welcome to the MM site. There are several Ford/L/M tech's on this site with lots of good info they are willing to share.

Thanks for the info guys. I suspected the CVPI brake pads would be more metalic. Anyone want to guess how many miles I would get out of the CVPI pad/Marauder Rotor combo?

About 20K.

I like Wagner Thermoquiets myself. We were installing them in Service Duty CVPIs and 9C1 IMpalas, vriturally no noise, good wear (30K+ in police duty) and easy on the rotor.
