Anyone catch this show, on Global? It was an interesting show (with boring cars, IMO). For those that missed it, here's the basic premise:
two teams of four are each given an older car (same year, make, model and condition), and a $15,000 budget. They have to compete to build the best car they can, within their budget and a three-day timeframe. Competition includes a looks rating, and 1-pass down the 1/4-mile. There are a couple of challenges along the way, where additional parts can be won for the car.
What amazed me is that, while the two Civics used are older and high-mileage, they were unable to even break into the 14's at the track after modification (which included a turbo for each).
The two cars are now being auctioned off (eBay), with proceeds going to charity.
This was just the pilot... If it's well received, Global will begin making more epsiodes, later this spring. All and all, I hope this show flies. It was reasonably entertaining, and the team vs. team concept added a new demension to the Overhaulin' concept, which I enjoyed. The two teams are in the same garage added drama (e.g. one team's engine was running hours before the other). I also really liked the fact the two cars had to race against each other. The producers have already hinted that they'd like to do this, with some older american cars (late 80's Mustang or Camaro)...
