I just thought I'd post a couple movie titles that don't seem to be well known, but IMO are sleepers.....

#1. "The Thing" starring Kurt Russell. (this is the re-make from the late 70's, and NOT the original B&W version of the 50's. It's very different than the one from the 50's) (very good flick!!!).

#2. "Trilogy of Terror" starring Karen Black. (this one can be tough to come by since it was actually a made for TV movie. It's also very short and is a three piece collection of short skits, with the last of the three being the only good one).

if anyone finds a place who actually can get the latter instead of simply advertising it, and sells it on either DVD or on VHS, then please let me know.

Regards,

DavidThanks Dave. I never see it on TV anymore, and I haven't seen it aired for atleast 10 years now. There's "Trilogy of terror 2" which IMO doesn't compare to the original.

The Thing is vastly underrated. The scene where they are testing to see who is infected is one of the best examples of paranoia in filmmaking. I love that movie.

BTW, have any of you seen "The Last Remake of Beau Geste" on DVD? I can't find it anywhere.

BTW, have any of you seen "The Last Remake of Beau Geste" on DVD? I can't find it anywhere.Sorry, but I can't say that I'm familiar with that. You sir, seem to be one of the most serious movie buff's that I've ever communicated with. I think you're the only person I can remember who knows all of the movies that I do, and a whole lot of them that I don't!!

That little voodoo doll with the knife was scary ... but the end with Karen Black squatting in front of the door smiling with her newly "sharped" teeth and holding the knife is is the stuff of continuing nightmares. Classic scene ... good flicks

OK #1: Great Mother:censor: ing movie. I have it on special edition DVD with the clear ice cover. Great movie, I personally happen to really like Kurt Russel so that's not really a contest for me. Interesting side note, has anybody played "The Thing" videogame? It's a few years old now, it's out for the X-Box console, it's supposed to be the sequal for the movie. It has a very innovative control scheme where you have to use different measures of coersion to get your commando squad to go along with you. You either have to build their trust or force them to do things, and they could turn on you at any moment if they don't trust you enough. GREAT GAME!!!

#2: Sorry, never heard of it. But if you are looking for it, try eBay, they might have it, if not try AMAZON.COM, if not, sorry i don't know what to tell you after that, google it maybe?

That little Zunie doll was a trip, and blows away that rediculous "Chuckie" doll any day of the week IMO.(BTW, those "Chuckie" movies aren't my cup of tea:rolleyes: ).

Mike & Chuck, I saw the "Trilogy of Terror" on Amazon.com and just ordered it, but the problem with them and someother sources is, that they list it, but don't have it, and you don't find out that it's on backorder until after you place the order. They just informed me that it will take 6 weeks to get it to me, and that's what happened the last time I ordered it, and the place made me wait 4 months before they told me that they couldn't get it. And the ones I've seen on E-bay are selling for $138!!!!! This is a very tough movie to find, and do not get it confused with "Trilogy of Terror 2" which is boring compared to the first one, and is much easier to get.

I saw Trilogy of Terror when it was first shown. That little doll scared the bejeerzers out of me! Had more than one nightmare that week. I remember TV Guide mentioned how the doll was operated with magenets and stuff under the floor. That was one of the scariest TV movies I ever saw as a child. The other one being the movie 'The Night Stalker' with Darrin McGavin, before the series came out, and he's chasing down a Vampire. When he went into the vampires home and climbed the stairs, I nearly crapped my pants:help:. Get outta there ya idiot!!

There's scary movies and there's scary movies but ... now ... in production ... George Romero is making another Dead movie.

I can't wait!

BTW, until then, rent "Martin" by George Romero. Martin thinks he's a vampire. Everyone seems to think so too. Check it out.

"So many monsters. So little Gas (for the chainsaw)" I can't wait ethier!

Another cool one is M. Night Shalaman's "The Villiage". Like most of his stuff (I see dead people!), it isn't what it seems ;)

IThat was one of the scariest TV movies I ever saw as a child. The other one being the movie 'The Night Stalker' with Darrin McGavin, before the series came out, Yes!! The Nightstalker MOVIE was much better than the TV series. That's another one of my favorites. There was also the Night Strangler movie too. That was decent, but not as good as the Nightstalker was. Remember the scene where the vampire gets into the hospital to steal all the blood, and then gets away from five cop cars on foot???

How about the scene were that lady gets out of work late at night, and goes to open her car door in a dark alley, when she turns around to see two bloodshot eyes peering at her in the dark? ....freaky!!!!

I thought both movies were great, but I'm a little partial to the original. Fantastic dialogue and very interesting characters.

The Kurt Russell version got lost due to the ET craze in 1982, but it's a great movie and deserved better.

Two campy horror films with very good musical soundtracks:

Fright Night (the original, forget FN 2) Chris Sarandon weaves horror and sex extremely well.
Lost Boys (Jamie Gertz is as attractive now as she was back in this movie; Kiefer Sutherland is one extremely talanted actor)

And for you folks that loved the Jersey Shore back in the 60's.

Eddie and the Cruisers (another great soundtrack; even the soundtrack from Eddie and the Cruisers: Eddie Lives is good)

A few of my favorite scary movies are "Near Dark" (biker, vampire love story), "The Hidden" (not the abyssmal sequal), and "The Hitcher" (why Rutger gets forgiven for a bunch of really stupid movies).

Thanks for your efforts, but as much as I'd like to have it, I won't pay $90 for one movie. They have it on E-bay, but for $138 for a used VHS, and $200 for a new one.

That frickin movie gave me nightmares for weeks. Another good off the wall, hard to find movie is Blood Relations. It has an interesting twist at the end. For pure camp horror there's Re-Animator, Stephen King's Creepshow, and Franken-Hooker.
